NinjaTurkey 255 Posted July 4, 2014 Anyone else notice the Akm seems to be inconsistant with its damage? For example i shot someone from 100 metres away in the side of the chest, blood sprayed he didnt drop. Ok so that was one bullet fair enough. But another time my group started getting shot at so i returned fire at the guy and hit him 5 times in the back and sides as he ran off. I never found a body. How the hell did he not go down? But to put this into perspective, i shot someone in the back once with an m4. Dropped instantly.Anyone else had furstrating moments with AKM? Shame realy cus i love the gun otherwise.
cywehner1234 582 Posted July 4, 2014 It normally take 2-4 shots. You gotta remember that m4 guy could have been low health also.
Khanarac 252 Posted July 4, 2014 (edited) I think the damage is inconsistent in general. I had similar issues, but since the AKM is more common now, mostly with the AKM. Or atleast thats the cause I attribute it to so far. I heard many reports from friends who said that "this guy survived 16 shots of my AKM", so maybe you are on to something. Before my M4 was taken from me by hackers, I had similar issues though when I thought "How the hell is he still alive?". Seems to be the case since the infamous .45 patch. Maybe its an illusion though. You mightve hit the arms, doing almost no damage, but showing bleeding. Edited July 4, 2014 by Khanarac
Dchil 829 Posted July 4, 2014 The shotgun seems to be nerfed to sh*t. I shot a zombie from point blank with a full length double barrel (and i didn't miss) and nothing happened. My magnum made short work of it though.

I had a guy with a cowboy hat survive a headshot with an AKM from 200 meters. Another guy with a ballistic helmet was shot from the same range with a mosin, also survived (also to the head). This is imbecilic at best.

Use the Drummag and ur enemys will go down quite fast :D because if u have a Drummag for the AK u probably are long enough alive, so that u wont need their loot . B) ok but now for real ... i also noticed that the damage dealt is very inconsistent. ( depends a lot on the enemys gear ! )

frosti 2165 Posted July 4, 2014 I think them tin cans in jackets, tac vests and pants are saving a lot of dudes. Hue. That's supposed to be my little dirty secret but... I've discovered that best thing that stop bullets are...other bullets. When I find all those 9mm, 0.22, magmum bullets I split them and put them in all pockets. Feels like Robocop.
hombrecz 832 Posted July 4, 2014 (edited) I think you might be right. Just yesterday I got shot 2x in the back, by dude with SKS.Ok my vision got blurry and lost some color, BUT i was not bleeding at all ! I ran away to meet mu buddy and 10 minutes later we headshotted that f00l who attacked me, when he climbed to the roof of hospital. My tac vest was ruined, pistol in it as well and also some cans. Also jacket was ruined so were like 5 tin cans I had there. Strangely enough backpack was ok and nothing ruined inside it.Now I am not totaly sure he shot me directly from behind or if he was a bit to the side. Darn, will try that !! Btw I hope they fix this damage reduction model though O_o. Edited July 4, 2014 by Hombre

hotcakes 348 Posted July 4, 2014 The maximum bullet-to-kill for 7.62x39 is nine rounds, assuming clothes tank most of the health damage.Keep in mind that max b/k is very high for most guns. You'll generally kill in less shots but you'll need to hit this many times to guarantee a kill.

If thats the case something needs to be done about it.

I agree, unless you wear ballistic protection, your jacket, even if full of tin cans, should not protect you that much.I'd prefer that items in clothing do not protect from damage at all, neither should the clothing itself except if its ballistic vest. 2-3 7.62x39 body shots should drop anybody dead or atleast near dead and unconscious. qww 287 Posted July 4, 2014 yep items inside clothing affetcs damage, almost certain of that. i duno what helps most, when i been going a while i usually end up carrying a ballistic helmet in jacket, incase it will help me live.ive been shot and then im ok with ruined helmet in jacket. came across this guy the other night who took a few shots from my bro and then 10 from me with sks in body, he didnt die and killed me with m4 hack ammo spray. my other friend then killed him from distance with mosin.when we checked him he had hacked m4 and also thousands of hi cap vests inside hi cap vests .like super body armour i think

MarchHare 184 Posted July 4, 2014 YT Wobo, Science of DayZ.Great video on the effectiveness of clothing, bp's and contents against bullet damage. Surprisingly INVERSE proportionality of # items to damage received in some cases. Vids a bit old but still topical.

Trust me, I'm a certified crock dayzballisticscientologist. Having pristine everything helps you absorb shit. Like, did you know that a backpack helps you prevent getting one hit killed when you get shot in the front? Everything is possible when you wear pristine clothing. Don't settle for your brother's raggedy hand-me-downs, wear 100% pristine and absorb hot lead like a bull. :^)!
OACKosh 1 Posted July 5, 2014 (edited) How many of you shot an SKS in real life? Do you have any idea just how powerful that Russian 7.62x39mm "intermediate" round really is? A single shot center mass should drop anyone, and would in real life. The ONLY way you would hope to survive a hit from an SKS or an AK would be by wearing a ceramic plate armor. Mosin would penetrate the ceramic plate though. Ballistic helmets deflecting bullets is a myth btw. : Some other interesting data: http://www.theboxotruth.com/the-box-o-truth-16-level-iiia-armor/ Edited July 5, 2014 by OACKosh

Dchil 829 Posted July 5, 2014 Everyone who is shouting "This gun should be OHK because i think it will do that IRL" need to remember that people are not game characters. However i have heard that insurgents have take up to 14rds of 5.56 and still fought back in various locations.

I just see what my 7.62x39mm rounds do to various targets I shoot, and it's not pretty.
