Selling items, like knives, for real money. If there are only 100, lets say high-powered sniper rifles in ALL the servers together, and someone finds one, people will be ready to give MONEY FOR THAT. This is going to be a PAY2WIN and SERVERHOPPINGFTW game if these ideas get into the game. Please, NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

This is going to be a PAY2WIN and SERVERHOPPINGFTW game if these ideas get into the game. Errr, it doesn't say that... at all... If anything, it's the exact opposite of "PAY2WIN" as nobody's paying any money, to anyone, for an in-game item. Why would I pay cash for a weapon, when I can just kill the dude who's using it in-game? Edited July 3, 2014 by Katana67
Etherious 907 Posted July 4, 2014 (edited) Or you could get yourself a private hive server (when they come out) and give it to yourself. :P Edited July 4, 2014 by DJ SGTHornet
Deathlove 2286 Posted July 4, 2014 Or you could get yourself a private hive server (when they come out) and give it to yourself. :PBut than you have to pay to play the game the way you want which is silly. You shouldn't HAVE to be forced to buy a server to get a good experience out of a game.

Dagwood 680 Posted July 4, 2014 Who would pay real money for an item that they will likely have pried from their dead hands within the week? And if you're going to hide in the woods and touch yourself while you druel over it, money well wasted. I don't see this being a problem at all. Also, for future reference, pay to win implies that if you do not pay, you are at a serious disadvantage. If you played the mod you should know that a rinky-dink Mosin can be just as deadly as your fully kitted AKM.Such pessimists in this community...

I expect the scope to be attachable to the SVD possibly. Would make sense anyways. Edited July 4, 2014 by Deathlove

When AKM has worse dispersion than the M4 (which it will) the AKM won't be as over powered as it is currently. Also, this had nothing to do with the P2W discussion I was responding to. pycco 38 Posted July 4, 2014 ya i agree this is setting the game up for a pay to win style, micro transactions like WOW and diablo....hope i'm wrong though it would ruin the entire game imo
Dagwood 680 Posted July 4, 2014 ya i agree this is setting the game up for a pay to win style, micro transactions like WOW and diablo....hope i'm wrong though it would ruin the entire game imoMaybe I'm just ignorant, but can you or someone else please explain to me how this is setting dayz up for pay to win? Maybe it will incentivize people to pay others for their gear, but people could do the same now and we've seen that they don't. I think everyone is jumping to conclusions

You shouldn't HAVE to be forced to buy a server to get a good experience out of a game.Oh I get it. All the people worrying about this really just want all the best weapons. This isn't going to cause server hopping to be any worse than it already is. These items are going to be so rare it won't even be worth trying hopping. There's nothing wrong with entering a server specifically because you heard a guy has rare loot. Indeed, that act will encourage people to hunt on that server for prolonged periods. That's the opposite of "server hopping".

Indeed, that act will encourage people to hunt on that server for prolonged periods. That's the opposite of "server hopping".Rather than focusing on the rarity of the item and making ppl hop to whichever spot has the best loot it should be something you should still be able to find over time no matter what server your on, The item spawns should not be governed by a hand full of ppl until they die from a freak accident or from some one lucky enough to pwn them just to have the item spawn randomly somewhere else. servers should lock players into one world so that staying on one server has a chance to spawn everything but at a much slower pace. It would be something you have to work hard for to earn depending on the rarity. Also killing some one for the item wont guarantee the item will not be harmed ether. And seeing how everyone is so damn trigger happy the first one to blow the guy away for the gear just to have it ruined is going to piss off a tone of ppl and have the server evacuate until something else of interest pops up which might not be for a LONG time. But this is all speculation maybe they will pull it off good. I just can see lots of problems with it.
cywehner1234 582 Posted July 4, 2014 (edited) I don't understand why you're so against it. In my opinion it's an awesome idea. It gives people something to strive for. Having only 100 makes it interesting. People sell rare shit ALL the time in games. While I do not agree with this, it's bound to happen. What I think is you're angry cause you won't get a really good gun. I'm 100% content with very limited good weapons, along with NV goggles. How many NV's do you really see? Especially in Chernarus. I feel like you're just whining. And if there's only 100 in the WORLDS population that plays the game? You know how fucking rare it would be to run into someone that has it? I feel like this is more a WAH I WON'T GET IT SO NOBODY CAN HAVE IT, more than anything. Edited July 4, 2014 by AsOiX
pilgrim* 3514 Posted July 4, 2014 (edited) I said it before in the other threads and will say it again here.....Terrible idea just down right terrible and will set the game up for disaster. Many people shout 'disaster' without understanding, without even reading... If there is ONE server TODAY and a "rare" item has spawned on it.. so "rare" that there is only ONE on the server.. what is to stop a player from selling that item ???If it is a "rare" item, maybe on plenty of other servers it has not spawned at all... so what is to stop a player selling it ?It's "very rare" right ? I hear that players will do anything to get a very rare item. So the central loot-hive idea has NOTHING to DO with this panic striken shouting from our conservative players. The same players who want items to be "very rare" are saying that a centralized loot-hive "is a terrible idea". As it stands TODAY.. what is to stop a server admin from restarting his server again and again and again until he GETS the "very rare" item ? Notice you have to be a server admin to do that.. so TODAY you can get any "very rare" item you want by paying to have your own server (and you COULD sell stuff too). That injustice is NOT because of a centralised loot-hive.A centralized loot-hive would put a stop to that. Particularly, the gun lobby have campagned for "rare" and "very rare" items in DayZ.. they want various guns, or ammo, or attachments to be "rare" or to be "very rare". And of course something that is "very rare" might not spawn on your server for AGES.Why is the idea that it has spawned on someone else's server so horrible? Why does it get your underwear all knotted up? Think about it before shouting. Here is "the centralized loot-hive" a method that COULD give you the "very rare" items you WANT in the game. And server admins could NOT loot farm them, and the devs would control EXACTLY how rare they were, and be able to adjust rarity precisely to suit the needs of the player base and the needs of the game. If you have a randomized spawn (like we have now) and you say "this item has a 0.1 chance of spawning" then, as you KNOW, any number between Zero and -one on EVERY spawn point - could spawn. That's how chance works. Tha HOWEVER this centralised loot-hive is only one part of a larger idea and a larger direction that has been proposed for DayZ. People should at least TRY to understand the concept - and the timescale - before screaming disaster.. Hey dudesI never thought I'd say this:ALPHA(wtf)things change .. I SURE HOPE they CHANGE.. that's what we players are here for . if it ever turns up, you try it out and you shout afterwards.. you all panic so much I'm amazed you can play this game.. doesn't it stress you out ? xx also : why are there different threads starting on the SAME topic.. the people who are frightened by "centralized loot" don't even read the forums, is that it ?
