What the future Holds

Recommended Posts

I just want to start by saying, It's not often I get sucked into a game I have never even played. Last time I Remember clocking through video after video of a game I'd yet to experience was in the days of Starwars Galaxies.

DayZ SA seems to have hit all the right buttons for me, Fair to say I'm hooked at the moment. A great thanks to some great YouTube vids from people like Mr. Moon, Vigilante Gamer, Frankie to many names to give a shout out to but I’m glad to say these guys have really captured the style I’ve been looking for in a game for quite some time.

A mix of Survival and adventure, Uncertainty around every corner. A real roleplay experience.

That’s not to say I can’t see flaws in the gameplay, of course it is in Alpha and I am only working off Videos been streamed online but I do wonder what direction the developers will take.

Regarding Zombies they seem to be more of a nuisance that a treat, avoiding them looks like child’s play and reminds me of the Elderscroll series a constant battle of back stepping/swing but in this case even more basic.

My point being they don’t strike fear into the player, I suggest maybe implementing hordes into the fray. Hot spots across the map may be swamped with a Hordes of Flesh cravers, which could continually relocate from town to town (real time).

I know we will have to see what the DEVS have in store for as it’s still early Day’z but it’s just food for thought. I love the realism that the game brings us so why not push on that.

I even feel the gameplay could be slowed down, forcing resting and putting limits on sprinting/jogging. Make the player think when the Best time is to use his energy.

I’m more of the hardcore gamer so I understand it’s not everyone’s cup of tea, I suppose that’s why they have the hardcore option. Please let me know what you think or if you have any Vid’s/posts I should check out I’d be glad to take a look.

No worries, they'll have those mechanics in game eventually, remember, this is Alpha. Not everything works, we have yet to see weather affecting health, bases, vehicles, Water from a pond poisoning you, and rest.

They might introduce weight as a factor to how far / fast you can run. The more you carry, the slower you are.

But there will be a whole bunch of other probs to be solved before that, so be patient :-)

Could anyone link to the roadmap for our Poet here, please? That should give you an idea of how long it'll take to get what feature done and what else is in planning.

They just implemented the feral zombie type and allot of ppl didn't notice till todays patch so things are getting a little more challenging slowly. Hopefully we get a huge chunk of zombie changes in the future here in one big patch.

Woohoo! Pooping in game is confirmed then as every taco I've eaten has been following by rivers of fizzy arse gravy...

YOU REALLY GOTTA GET THE GAME AND PLAY IT.

Build a PC like me for it if you have too... $400-500 will get you in the game if you do not have anything to start with. ;)

That's what we are all hoping for, isn't it? Minus that nasty pooping rumor. That one smells like crap to me. Pun fully intended.

The new zombie type movement behavior is a nice surprise step in the right direction for sure. I cant wait till fog thats going to scare the people so bad considering im sure it is going to be something you cant adjust to easy mode with gamma sliders.

I know so man

  • Physics
  • New engine
  • 64-bit architecture
  • Wind ballistics
  • Global loot rarity
  • Expanded map
  • Enhanced control scheme
  • Enhanced AI

The list goes on.

In regards to the pooping system, I'm pretty sure Bohemia is legitimately considering this. Would really add another element to the game in many different ways: Ailments (diarhea), contaminating water sources, food poisoning from lack of hygene, etc.

If it could be done in a mature, low-key manner, I wouldn't be opposed to it. But if we happen to never see it in game, I won't lose a minute of sleep over it.

While getting my daily night cap of DayZ videos I actually was contemplating Rain and its effects on health, It was one of Vigilantes Vid’s, He mentioned further development on sickness and disease as we can see the ground work is there already. Wet clothes ect…

The question then, “what does one do once fully kitted” was brought up. The answer was bleak, “kill new spawns.” A joke of course but it’s true, right now it is at Alpha stage. A giant test ground for everyone.

I look forward to seeing people desperate for food, trading bullets for antibiotics for that nasty cold they picked up in the rain.

The game mechanics are there hopefully the devs work out a smart system to draw out the survivors in everyone.

I've actually been looking up prices online all night really thinking of trying to build my own.

I'm away in spain at the moment so could be a while before I'm back home.

whats the best way to go do you think, I was considering ordering from the states cause parts are cheaper but is there a tax then? living in Ireland so not really sure how are prices compair to them, Not good though I rekon.

Id say the only certain thing the future holds is you actually buying the game playing it and giving a valid expression of your gameplay experience.
