TheMachine 803 Posted July 1, 2014 When I kill someone in DayZ the thrill is exquisite. Is it the same when you take down an enemy in real life? That rush...the heart racing... the pure pleasure that washes over you? I don't think I'll be the first to admit that I've got wood from fragging on DayZ, perhaps it's the same in a combat situation? I understand a lot of the people who have served like to maintain a stoic frame 'oh, I done what I had to' type deal, but come on now....

rybo 171 Posted July 1, 2014 (edited) facepalm.... Real rude question to ask no matter how sincere you state it.... Kinda of like asking a Vet. "Yo, you kill anyone?" You really wanna know? Read a book written by a Vet. Edited July 1, 2014 by RyBo

Of course you're going to have the guys who get hard in a combat situation, but they are not the norm. There is a threat, you have your job to do. Quite simply I think. Someone is trying to harm you and your mates, or an innocent person training takes over and you "Do what you had to do". guppy22143 1081 Posted July 1, 2014 Someone please lock this. Combat is something that someone who hasn't experienced it could never understand- it isn't "pure pleasure", it's feeling like you are about to get shot in the sides, fearing for your life, for your friends' lives, then questioning every moral you've ever had throughout your entire life. Questions like "Am I going to hell?" It's guilt, pure guilt, not a rush, but shaking hands and ending a human life. I sincerely hope that you are trolling. If not, you are probably a little kid. And never ask that question again. Lock it right in your mind-vault.

No. It is not the same in real life to take another persons life in combat. The only part that feels good is that you are alive, and so are your Brothers next to you. The rest will make you puke, not sleep right, get angry at people you love for the rest of your life, and essentially just not be happy after that for a very long time. You never really get closure with something like that. Ever. Those that have experienced it do not like to discuss it, and those that do and like to talk about it have a fucking screw loose.
