The 5 Rules Of Dayz...

Recommended Posts

1) There are no other players, just Zombies, Zombies that talk, and Zombies with guns.

2) You weren't raised in a barn so close the damn door

3) As a newspawn you have nothing to lose, there is no reason to sneak

4) Don't get cocky...don't get reckless... Don't eat her sock (This rule created with input from the dog)

5) Once you have everything you want, Logging off is the only way not to lose.

Well I walk around bases with my SKS at the ready I would like to see how your tiny puny pistol measures up to that.

I have just found that too bit unwieldy, that's why I carry the pistol at the ready rather than a long rifle, especially indoors and around tents.  Quicker to aim and higher rate of fire.  Roughly half the kills I get are with pistols.

So here is rule # 6

Never bring an axe to a gunfight.

1. Take good care of your character- eat anything nutritious you find and can open- avoid fruit and soda, these are an absolute waste of time. Try to focus on canned foods like beans, sardines, and the tac bacon. Rice and cereal should be avoided, as it is detrimental towards your thirst. Carry a canteen or water bottle, and fill up on water at every chance you get.

2. Don't skyline. Only new players and morons run across open fields. Stick to treelines, small creeks & valleys when travelling countryside, and avoid running on roads by taking alleys in large cities.

3. Scan before looting (or shooting, for that matter :P). It never hurt anyone to take a knee and watch an area before looting it. This might lessen the chances of a surprise encounter, which is always the worst kind.

4. Pack simple weapons. Don't just pick something up because it 'looks cool'. Practicality bumps necessity. Most people don't KoS unarmed/melee armed players if they keep a reasonable distance. Just avoid picking up poor firearms (aka; shotgun, Blaze), and focus on the most practical of armaments- the Mosin, AK, and SKS.

5. Explore! Don't just bottle up in the NE, go out and find your own adventure. Travelling is half the fun, am I right? ;)

Don't underestimate the lethality of the pistols.

I don't but I have tested an SKS in confined spaces and it works really well. And SKS is no mosin it has a good rate of fire, combined with a much more stopping power than a pistol.

This guy had a sawed off shotgun, which is great at CQB, and yet he died.

My rules

1. Always move around like if there was a sniper watching you.

2. If you think you've heard something strange, just assume you really did (not - "probably just my imagination".).

3. Expect unexpected.

4. Failure is part of the learning process.

5. Trust your instincts.

6. Explore every inch of the map.

Guys only:

Do your looting same way you do your shopping: make a list, get in, get your shit and get out as quickly as possible

Works like a charm :)

This is what gets me killed, I just can't decide which hat or shoes to chose.

the first 2 rules are don't trust anybody

3 ) stay frosty (that's difficult)

4 ) don't get sidetracked from your objectives

5 )

if you're talking to a stranger, and he pauses in the conversation

its because he's talking to his mate on his channel

- just shoot him now

[ AND heh! - I take it so for granted I forgot to mention -  don't let all the dumb players you come across fool you, there might be a smart player around ]

#1: Social interaction will get you killed.

#2: If it holds an edge, you can open a can with it.

#3: If you can see the zombie's face, the zombie can see you. Distance doesn't matter.

#4: Going to an airfield, a military camp or a large city is suicidal, but suit yourself.

#5: You don't want to run with fresh spawns unless you know them personally.

1. That's not a bug, it's a placeholder.

2. It'll be patched shortly.

3. The meaning of "shortly" varies greatly..

4. Rubberbanding is life.

5. That fitting a different stock to a weapon turns it from a blunderbuss to a laser is perfectly acceptable.

1. If it's not dead, kill it.

2. if it's moving shoot it.

3. If it screams "friendly" shoot it again.

4. Do something really offensive right before it dies.

5. If you cant kill it, hop on teamspeak and call out for backup in killing of said target.

I disagree. I leave everything open.

When I go into a town and see open doors, I get worried there might be a team of 4 bandits around the corner. Also, if I see open doors, i'll bypass the town and move to another.

If i think this, hopefully others will to, and stay away if they see open doors. Closed doors are an invite for people to come sniffing around.

Although that may be true @Acher0n - if I am looting a town and close all doors behind me (both when entering/exiting), the second I see another set of doors open, I know that there is someone else about.

If I am in an area playing the role of the bandit, I want it enticing as possible, so I will make the extra effort of ensuring all doors are closed.

This also rings true that if you are looting through an area, a good example is west berezino (up near tank statue), if you are leaving doors open behind you as you go then that team of 4 bandits who are on their way to get into position for an ambush see that only 3 out of the X amount of doors are open on one side of the street, you might as well have a big arrow pointing to the building your in.

You would be surprised at the amount of people I've ambushed in this fashion, sometimes a group of two looting a building come downstairs to see me sitting at the bottom, just waiting.

If you are smart, use back doors and exit the same way.

Rule No.1 : Don't trust anyone,even friendly clan.

Rule No.2 : Always have more ammo than you think you'll need when entering any high-risk areas (high-risk areas are areas that have more than 2 lootable objects in it).

Rule No.3 : Always have a can opener.And canned beans.Or peaches.

Rule No.4 : Always have a plan for looting a high-risk area ( remember where the woods are,for loosing zombies at cost of unnecessary spending ammo)

Rule No.5 : There is always someone near,it doesn't matter how far you go away from high-risk areas.

Rule No.6 : NEVER GO TO THE MOUNTAIN.EVER.
