Running around shooting at 'the enemy' makes it feel like Arma for me. I don't think this trailer does justice to what Dayz stands for, it doesn't represent the game very well in my opinion. Which is what a trailer should be doing ;)

I agree, but perhaps this is what the game is to the OP?

Some people play it as nothing but a shooter, others play it for RP reasons, to each theyre own :)

I think what he wants, is a video showing MORE then just shooting people, because this game is about so much more then killing everything that moves.

Show the survival aspects, show the "struggle" to find food and water, show the zombies, show people killing each other over resources.

 

Basicly that video shows nothing but "clan" pvp, and thats just one small aspect of this game.

I agree with Toasted Ducky. It is really well done, but it's about firefighting alone and that's a bit of a shame. Great quality tho!

That's a farce, though, because there is no 'struggle' to find food and water. The game is overflowing with food and water.

 

Perhaps that fantasy might become reality when they lower food spawns and require us to purify the water we harvest.

but the trailer isnt supposed to represent the standalone (it wouldnt be good if it would be), its supposed to represent the north-west area in the standalone.

so i think all the shooting and sniping is fine, because thats what 99% of the people do at NWAF and surroundings.

Guys take this with a pinch of salt this is a video about squad vs squad, i wanted to do one about SURVIVAL but you CANT no zombies in the game to do it, this game is limited.

i hope you realise i cant do one of survival because there are NO zombies in thee game, take this with a pinch of salt... This game is limited to what cinematic i can do...

 i cant make a trailer about survival when this game has no zombies, and is not about survival atm

You took quite some effort to make that vid, but I find it kind of boring. It's hard to tell who is who. Also people die instantly, no unconscious guys, and comrades trying to save their lives, broken legs crawing to safety. The actors didn't fight in a convincing manner either, mostly being utterly uncovered. The gasmask chick ruined it all for me. Beautiful weather and the chick is wearing a breath and sightimpairing gasmask for no reason. I know dayz players do that, but in cinematic setting a gasmask has no place if there is no reason to wear it. People fucking hate puting on gasmasks in reallife.

I dislike the fact that there is no sound there, just some music that doesn't appeal to me either.

I still very much respect your efforts. There is nothing wrong with a shootout vid. Its titled "the northwest" not "dayz". And Vets know: The northwest is all about squadfirefights.

You truly think that there's nothing in between what we saw in the video and what you just described? You come across pretty narrow minded and not very smart.

I think you can do one about survival, regardless of what I think of the atmosphere you try to create with your trailer the cinematics are very well done, especially when considering that this is a first try.

This is not completely true, there are zombies in the game. There is just not a lot of them. But it should be doable. I'm actually working on some sort of trailer myself. :)

sorry to say its not possible the zombies go through walls, there agro patter is weird, they attack you very weird , it just cant work out. and at most have like 4-5 zombie on you.

Im sorry to bring this to your attention, but..... alpha! :D

Theres been no kind of real loot balance done yet, because theres no actual respawn mechanic, so what we have right now is ONLY the way it is because its missing key components and we are in early development mate.

Right now, the #1 priority is obviously to add as much to the game as possible, fine tuning it comes afterwards, and its usually called beta ;)

 

So yes, RIGHT NOW its way to easy to find food, water and general supplies, but i seriously doubt the end product is anywhere near that, and isnt that what would be best to reflect? The vision of the finished game?

Even the official trailers show more then just gunfights between clans, so i am gonna assume so.

This is in no way ment as a attack on your video, its great and well made, but i would really like to see a cinematic with a survivor fighting off zombies, finding food, hunting animals and being attaked by bandits.

Basicly ALL of the aspects of the game.

Thats what DayZ is for me at least hehe.
