Can confirm. They were changed to 2x2 so I didn't take them. 

 

They need to make a seperate slot for things you can hang off your neck.  Binoculars and compasses can easily hang from your neck.

I am kinda sad we got those old crappy soviet era almost steam punk binos.

 

Modern binos are insanely cheap and readily available not sure why we did not get those.

 

Also sad there is no internal ranging reticle for range estimation using binoculars.

 

would be nice to have size correct reticles inside the optic that could be used for ranging targets in all fov settings.

Sure most binoculars that are only used for observing but grand majority of military and hunting binoculars have some type of ranging reticle.

 

It hardly cost anything is invaluable at times for quick range estimation without the need for electronics.

I don't understand the point of making any items rare at this point. Its alpha, we are supposed to test things and find obscure problems (say, for example, attempting to place an engraved 1911 inside an expanded carrier rig causes the server to explode). Why make ANYTHING rare?

I spent HOURS tracking down a single arrow for a bow, JUST so I could try it out. I want to find out what kind of range and accuracy the thing has, so I can come back and tell the devs what I think, what is bugged, broken etc. As it is, I cant do that because I haven't seen more than a single arrow since the new stable patch was released.

My point: How are we supposed to test new shit, if we cant find it?

oddly enough, heli crashes are supposed to be pretty rare right? I have found 7 of them. SEVEN. And not ONE had an M4....chew on that for a moment....

I started looking for them almost 3 weeks ago for 3+ hours everyday and I haven't found them yet.

Got a strange error message the other day about not being able to load some garblegarble//Binoculars/ file

 

Also krazy,

you may be doing it wrong or you're just too late.  Only once i've seen an m4 at crash site, at the nose at right angle to length of chopper.  Every other time i've had to walk up and 'into' the chopper to see the m4 on my Tab inventory display.

Imo there are no binocs spawning atm, couldn't find any. But I didn't find an AKM either yet. I ripped binocs off a guy who had an M4, suggesting it was acquired pre-patch. I found any other item multiple times though, fishinghooks, OREL, HC-Vest, Crashsites, DrumMags....

 

Oh and the Binocs are still bugged as they still work perfectly when ruined.

Nobody would have sub 200 dollars binos there, 200 dolla is like the year worth sallary. You may as well look for sub 200 dollars binos in African huts.

 

Only binos in Chernorus possible and realistic are those ones that are/were in game.

I have a pair of soviet ex-military binocs in a hard leather case, about 15 years old now. They are physically large, they are solidly made, the optics are good. They were NOT expensive. They are pretty much the same as the binocs in the game.

This is a pretty stupid change but then in dayz, the only binoculars that people have are ones made 60 years ago. A standard combat jacket would fit a pair in the lower pockets so jackets should have x2 4 slots pockets at the bottom and x2 2 slot pockets at the top. The assault vest should have in the region of 20 slots - seems to me somebody isn't really thinking this through properly.

It has 8 big pockets and 2 smaller pockets.

 

Estiminateing I could fit in those 30 Pipsi cans and 2-4 bandages.

There's more stuff I'd put in there too I can't remember right now though but I do remember I wasn't particularly weighed down - I mean I didn't really feel it as the weight is distributed

Zoom vision only zooms a fraction of what binos does. Think LRS.
