I won't lie, I'm quite excited

Not only is 0.45 swinging over onto stable but it means that we're onto the next block of new features starting to creep towards experimental. It's been a long old wait for this one but given that they had a new team to get up to speed it's understandable.

 

Anyone want to speculate on what is next on the road map to get worked on? What is there from 2nd quarter milestones that hasn't made the cut this time round?

Yeah it's a cracking film. Never played on exp. servers, is the hunting stuff in?

 

Idk i heard they took out a few things including AKM but here is hopping they put them back in for stable on release.

 

Apparently Hicks tweeted (and it's been confirmed in-game) that that stuff back is back in on experimental, probably taken out for a couple of hours so they could concentrate on getting clean data back on the rubberbanding fix.

Things like akm, longhorn and large vest are back on experimental since this morning. Currently wearing them.

If I was a gambling man, my money would be on infrastructure and shifting stuff over to Dx10/11 being the focus of the next update. The hunting and survival adds enough to keep most people happy for a while allowing the devs leeway to work on stuff that won't add much to the client.

I think it's architecture, architecture, architecture. It's all very annoying recently with hackers but at the same time the hackers are able to hack because of they way the architecture is/was until now. I'm from a construction background and the most important thing is the foundation. No-one sees it or appreciates it but it's the most important thing. It's all very well putting up lovely wallpaper and curtains until your house sinks into the ground.

 

btw Irish here, will check out your server/group if you are willing for other celts to get involved

Man, it'll be nice to see heli-crashes back in as well

 

I am pretty sure all the features that was in the rubberbanding exp will be implemented in tomorrows stable patch, and that includes heli crashes. Also, the new exp build should be up tomorrow as well, so while we can guess here, it is almost quicker just waiting for tomorrow.

Yeah, I'm a developer myself (though nothing as interesting as games) and I've done the whole take two steps back, take twenty forward thing plenty of times. You get it working first then you go back and get it working properly applies to the wee things as well as the big picture. 

 

Be delighted to have you join up, the more the merrier.

I'm REALLY hoping that we get to see the new navmesh, but I wouldn't put it past the devs to continue to add on to what we've seen in .45.

 

Things like new animal/fish models, upgraded fireplaces, things like that. Basically just taking everything to the next step.

 

Maybe improved crashed-heli sites (more random & not so many fixed coordinates). All-in-all any progress is progress. Only time will tell.

Nice, you'd hope with the extra staff that things will start to pick up pace, hopefully this is a sign of things to come. I think tomorrow is going to be a fun day

There was a nice script that came out (I added it to my mod server) that had an AI chopper that would fly in from sea and at a random point would explode mid-air and then crash into the ground and become a normal dayz loot heli-crash. Was really good fun, be nice if they implemented something like that further down the line.

Is it basically a london server? I'm irish but play mainly with uk and dutch people.

 

Back on topic, I think we're going to have good weeks and bad. Sometimes it won't make sense for them to patch some issue that'll automatically be irrelevant when they update the architecture. Short term pain v longterm gain. I'm fine with that but if I'm going to die by some script kiddie I think I'd prefer it happen in exp.

 

I wish they'd add more servers though! It's a pity they don't allow people like you to run an exp server instead of running the stable branch.

I'd like to see them add loot respawn, item persistence and then barricading, for actual features.

 

But I'd first like to see a focus on the hacking problems, because right now it's really out of hand.  They need to fix the major hacks such as teleporting/esp and probably most importantly the loot stripping thing.  I'd like to see a refocus on that, because you can make the coolest game ever but hackers are just going to ruin it.

Thing about exp. is all the servers are full. I think they could add another 10 and they'll still all be full. I'll deffo be in touch when i get back to stable though.

I'm actually keen for some loot addition and balancing, so players have a really strong pull to head inland. Along with some hard survival mechanics, so we gotta be careful of water, sparing of food and wary of sicknesses.

Except for us Australians. The maintenance is right at the time I get home from a days work. It is a killer, but actually makes me get shit done as soon as I get home so i can dedicate the rest of the evening to smashing some DayZ. New Exp patch will be awesome if it gets released fairly close to the Stable push. State of Origin will keep me occupied until the servers come back on.
