This game is really something else...

Recommended Posts

Spawn in, acquire great gear while somehow avoiding people and getting killed on full servers.  Play for several hours, making campfires, hunting, taking in the scenery. Take a break, spawn back in later, and realize all my gear is gone.  No Backpack, no gear, no pants, no shoes.  Now my character is starving and thirsty with no help in sight.  Find a police station, eat and drink all the food and soda in there.  Good to go (minus clothes and gear).  Start making my way out, and BAM, rubberbanded back into the boarded up room inside the police station, no way out, all on a full stomach and fully hydrated.  Unreal.

On the bright side, if anyone wants an M4 with a coupled STANAG 60 round mag I'll be in the police station in Grishino waiting to die.

Did you use the UK servers in experimental? That must be it, because they don't save your character. Avoid them if you don't want to lose progress. For the rubberbanding, walk outside, crouch, and eat or drink something, then walk again away from your rubberbanding spot.

Thanks for the heads up.  Next time I'll be sure to check these things out.

Yeah, shit happens. It's even worse on Experimental. But hey, campfires. Amirite?

He was talking about experimental because campfires :-)

If you got sucked into locked room of police station, just go next to the door, turn around to face the wall with you back and drag a weapon into your hand. The animation of switching weapons will glitch you out of that death room. Not sure if it works only if switch from rifle to melee weapon, but I switched to axe and was free again!

Lucky you! :D  Honestly every time I played on UK servers, either reg or hard, my character got reset. Some how my characters for both regular and hardcore hives saves from US, EU, DE, SE, DAL, and AUZ experimental servers. (Although at about 300 ping, I don't go in Australia servers. Still, I tried and my characters are there. If I join any UK, I'm a fresh spawn, then I switch to any other server, and my character is back up with gear I had, and there's no timer either for quick changing servers. But if I join another server again, from another region, I get the timer before spawning....

I've read that it happened to others too. so I'm not so sure if it's a bug or just a region/ip conflict.

I for some odd reason I read that in Jason Lee's voice....

On regular, my char doesn't save, on hardcore it does.

I'm playing on the UK experimental servers (regular), too, and I think I've figured out the pattern: don't change servers or your character won't load and you'll start as a fresh spawn. I've been playing on #18 for about a week and every time I try another server (because #18 was full after I've lost the session or the game crashed) I'm a fresh spawn - and if it's a server I've tried before, I'm actually the same fresh spawn.

So your character's basically server dependent for some reason. I'm not sure why this is or if other (non-UK) servers are affected, but for now, it's a very reliable practice if you want to avoid character losses.

I haven't had the problem of my character not saving on the current experimental, and I have randomly switched between servers whenever they restart.

That's why I said it! Haha.

Even though he puts the accent on in My Name is Earl, it's hard to imagine him talking any other way.

If I had a dollar for every time I seen someone who isn't a mod post the rules or correct another forum user, I'd be rich.
