zombie loot

zombies, when killed, should drop rare loot. For example, military zombies could carry small amounts of ammo and some food or water. Civilians could occasionally drop weapons such as axes and kitchen knives.

 

I know this seems like an obvious thing to put in the game at a later date, so I am a little apprehensive about opening a topic for it, so I want to say now that this is being opened for discussion so that people can talk about specific types of loot they want to see. No 'it's in alpha' comments please.

was thinking about this too, if they gave zombies some good 'rare' loot, maybe only available on zombies (as if the person before zombification, took the good stuff), then people would rather hunt zombies for loot :P *when they add zombie loot in  time*

 

added:

kill zombie, get map to winchester pub, and wait for it to all blow over :P

lootable zombies + unlimited zombie respawns = infinite loot... not sure if you people really want this. .. I certainly don't .. not aslong the Zombie mechanics are changed dramatically.

Rare.. rarity. so like in in 1000 zombies has something special. not goanna =  infinite loot. and zombies will get loot as planned.

 

example, rather than have GPS/NNVG in buildings (and server hopping, even with delay thing, it will happen if it spawns in buildings). maybe only can rarely find it on military zombies.

Well, it was already confirmed in very early stage of the release that zeds (infected) would eventually get loot, they did in the mod and they will in the standalone. For now the body's de-spawn to quickly for looting and thus no loot is added for the drop.

 

But you can be sure it will be added.

It makes sense that they would have at least some loot on every zombie. All military zeds should drop boots, and a helmet as standard. These could be in bad condition, but they should drop. If not, it ruins the realistic immersion.

I remember getting frustrated that the imperial palace guards in Oblivion didn't drop that really cool gold and white armor when you killed them, and wouldn't want to see that problem in Day Z.

 

From a gameplay perspective, it rewards risky behavior. The best way to balance a game is to reward each type of play in different ways. In this case, you might see a zed has a rifle on his back, but know that attacking it is risky as you may break your leg or die. This makes it more about weighing up different options.

Certainly not a single zombie has any loot because of the alpha status.

 

When they will have loot, quite an amount of them should have wrist watches.

 

Btw, have watches been removed from the SA-game at all?
