Randomly occurring illness

So I would like to see illness become a bigger threat. Right now there is a lot of medical equipment out there, but mainly for dealing with physical injury (splints, bandages, IV). I would like to see randomly contracted illnesses which could be caught from blood to surface exposure. For example, if you are bleeding and run around, opening doors and climbing ladders, you are exposing your blood to a number of pathogens on the surfaces you are touching. Diseases such as Cellulitis are caught in this way. They can be treated with antibiotics and antivirals. This would make visiting hospitals more important than ever, as you would need to carry some pill or vial form antibiotics at all time for safety.

Cool, sorry, a list of things that are definitely going to be implemented needs to be posted so as to prevent people like me from posting things which have already been chosen to be added later ... if it has then could you give me a link please?

 

Also, forgot to mention that zombies clawing at you would probably infect the wound in the first place.

I think too much realism can destroy the fun.

 

Overall, it's a game. 

DayZ is a "hard-core" game, which is already a lot more un-forgiving for mistakes than other games.

And it will become harder.

 

But do you really want to have to look for threats such as rusty ladders, brushing your teeth every hours, etc...? :D

I don't think disease and illness should be random, but I'm fairly sure that it will feature in the game later in development.

 

For example if you don't properly care for a wound it may become infected and getting wet and cold at night could result in hypothermia.

Tooth problems would only really become a proper issue after a few weeks, maybe even months if you are lucky. Not many people survive that long in Day Z, so I can't see it being a realistic problem. For a hardcore server maybe it would be a nice finishing touch, along with vitamin deficiency. Not eating any fruit? Scurvy, night blindness and weakened immune system!

I agree more must be done for illness and infection etc, to make use of the medi supplies and add more risk to the gameworld. I'd like a bit of randomness, maybe a very low chance of some random affliction like the common cold(?) (I've got a cold at the minute and it's summer how have I caught a cold in June?) But most illness should be from cause/effect basis. Like said above, if you get wet, cold and so on or leave a wound to fester. 

Fairly confident more is going to be developed with future patches, once a few of the broken bits and bytes have been taken care of.

Pretty certain he was joking about toothache anyway..

Scurvy etc would be interesting! Makes a case for apple picking from the trees we see full of apples to go in with the berry picking we've got so far.

Yeah, very true. This is why I always thought it was a bit silly when people suggested that over-eating should make your character fat.
