guppy22143 1081 Posted June 4, 2014 So, in Stary Sobor 3rd shirt and first splint I've gone through (haven't encountered a single person) And 2 zombies try to kill me Welp, I get my SKS bayonet out I hit them, narrowly in the head, and they drop and get up 5 times now But then, I get hit once My arm is in pain I am bleeding Shirt: Ruined No biggie, I keep fighting Hit once more. My leg is in pain I am bleeding I think my leg is broken I think my arm is broken No unconscious screen, nothing. Just instantly dead. Was healthy, stuffed, light green hydrated and light green energized. So, has anyone else had any zed troubles lately? I mean, I really appreciate that they are more of a threat. But it seems like the wrong way to go about it. They seem like more of an annoyance than a threat. ;-; My solution? Leave zeds the way they are, but nerf when they break your legs/ruin your shirt Then, sort out the AI, as previously discussed. :D thoughts?
JPWiser 251 Posted June 4, 2014 imo just leave zeds as is until all the buildings have been added, then rework zed pathing, then add a shit ton of them.
DemonGroover 8836 Posted June 4, 2014 I agree that hitting them in the head with a melee weapon sometimes doesn't appear to have any effect and then you can shoot them in the leg with a pistol and they drop like a sack of spuds.
Nighthaunter8 4 Posted June 4, 2014 Fighting a Zed, pristine motorcycle helmet. Hits me in the head, i drop dead. Since Karma is that sweet lady we all know, i spawn 200 mts away from my body. Check the gear, my helmet was ruined. I found Mike Tyson in his Zombie form. Hit by a zombie wearing a anti stab vest, ruins my shirt underneath, the vest remains worn.
nexventor 429 Posted June 4, 2014 They are way to easy in the current state. The only thing I think needs adjusting is the damaging and ruining your gear. One hit should not ruin a pristine backpack and all the stuff inside.
St. Jimmy 1631 Posted June 4, 2014 First they need to tune pathfinding, speed, hearing and seeing, then we really can say how much damage, knocking, breaking etc. they should make.
korpisoturi (DayZ) 127 Posted June 4, 2014 Yeap, zombie hit me couple of times, didn't die from 5 hits with fireaxe. After the fight I check I gear and notice that my vest and...pants? are ruined. With every gear within them. I understand that zombie hits should degrade items but going straight to from pristine to ruined is just fucked up. Also this seems to be totally random.
JonSch581 1 Posted June 6, 2014 I was deathly afraid of zombies unless I had an axe. Then one day I got cornered as a new spawn and didn't have much gear anyway so I said screw it, let's fight! To my delight and complete surprise I beat that zombie down like a boxing champ with no injuries. Since that day I haven't even bothered picking up a melee weapon unless it's an axe. I find it much easier to head punch the zombie and then give it a beat down while it's getting back up. Rinse and repeat. Punches are much faster so it's not as bad if you miss that first headshot. I find them too easy unless you get more than one or it's the kind wearing a ballistic helmet. Once they stop glitching through walls they'll be even easier. I wish there was more balance between their eyesight and hearing. They have eagle eyes but almost no hearing, unless it's a gun shot. They can aggro from way across a field but I can be walking or running around inside a house, walk out the back door and there's a zombie just standing there. Pvt_Larry (DayZ) 98 Posted June 6, 2014 I've had the same experience, bayonet and all. My opinion on the zeds: right now, too fast and too tough for the number of glitches they experience. Getting pretty sick of teleportation. I'd rather see large numbers of weak, slow zombies that make urban area dangerous, rather than a couple tougher sprinters in each town. JonSch581 1 Posted June 6, 2014 Having a variety of zombie types would make the game more interesting and dynamic. The only problem is that packs of slower weaker zombies might be more trouble for a new spawn running solo. The only option would be to run or hide because the numbers would be overwhelming in melee range.
