NINJAHITAM 17 Posted June 1, 2014 Dear all and Dayz Developers,we really need a safe house or stash house that permanent to store our loot. The stash or safe house must have a password. This is very important to store our loot in a secure way. I'm really tired when my character died, we need start from the below again. THIS IS SO FRUSTRATING ! :(Atleast we have a safe house we can build or we pick it to SAVE OUR LOOT that we collect. So what do u think guys ?
btw001 19 Posted June 1, 2014 No. This ruins the whole point of a hardcore survival game. Realistically, you wouldn't be able to create a safe house that you could go to if you die. Especially since in real life there's no respawn button (at least I don't think). I'll give you one tip though to deal with dying. Don't get too attached to your character and items (your basically just holding it for someone else)
patriots20068@yahoo.com 100 Posted June 1, 2014 Its called Epoch. Maybe you should play it. :)
Rigor Mortis (DayZ) 141 Posted June 1, 2014 If I could move this to 'This isn't the game for you' and lock it I would...
Cuqah 22 Posted June 1, 2014 this is already in DayZ Epoch, you can store items in safes which can be locked with a code.
Jvalor 59 Posted June 1, 2014 There is a zombie survival game on PC and Xbox called State of Decay. It's got the perma-death thing going for it too, but you can stash all your precious loot at these handy dandy storage containers. Sounds like your cup of tea. DayZ seems too rough for ya'. Mos1ey 6301 Posted June 1, 2014 (edited) There will probably be tents and some other storage later in development, but other players will always be able to find and loot them. There won't be any safe zones or magical stash points in DayZ, sorry! Edited June 1, 2014 by Mos1ey

DayZ is alot better experience to me with the feel of having something different happen every time. once you beat the story in SoD it gets to a point where the only thing to do is shoot some zombies. not personally what i enjoy doing 24/7

It has the whole open-world exploration thing too and has a story, albeit lacking a bit. But yeah, great game, wasn't talking bad about the game just pointing out to that guy that there are other games where he can stash his loot. DayZ just isn't that game.
NINJAHITAM 17 Posted June 1, 2014 (edited) What I means is, if we can setup a base or a clan base with our friend, the loot will save in the base. Same concept like if we have 2 steam account, 1 account go loot and save it to second steam's account backpack. The second steam account act like a permanent storage.... But we need two pc to do that....What i want to say the method for saving time after we have collect valueable loot.... it's ocay if the base doesn't have password, i mean some place we can stash as permanent there....so after we died or we login again... what we collect will be permanent there..... fluxley 2228 Posted June 1, 2014 As Mos1ey said, there will be persistent storage, so you will be able to hide gear somewhere and come back to it later, but it will never be 100% safe from other players, it'll be down to you to hide it well.

I'm not sure if the gear you store will persist beyond your death (personally I hope it doesn't...). That kind of defeats the purpose of perma-death.
Fern Baron 128 Posted June 1, 2014 No to any form of locked/safe storage. If it can be locked, there should be the means for another player to breach it. This is the challenge of dayz that I've come to love to hate and what makes mods like epoch ezmode and unchallenging. I'm not sure if the gear you store will persist beyond your death (personally I hope it doesn't...). That kind of defeats the purpose of perma-death.Now that would be hardcore! Death would literally end that character, including stashed gear that your new character somehow has knowledge of

Ive been posting on a suggestions post about lockable safes that can be cracked pretty easily and also the ability to lock some doors to hold up in but no matter what nothing should ever be 100% secure, your character should never be able to us the "cloud" to store gear just so if you die you can just have it all back because your afraid to start over again. This game is about survival of the fittest and you will die resulting in losing your gear its un-avoidable and should never change and you should never be able to keep gear 100% safe. If you really dont like what most people have said on here then i agree that dayz is not the game for you which i never like saying because this game should be for everyone of all gamer types. fluxley 2228 Posted June 1, 2014 Mods mate As far as im concerned if a mod adds a safe zone or protected stashes its no longer DayZ.
irishroy 1347 Posted June 1, 2014 (edited) yeah, write in this colour.doesn't give eye-cancer @ all. I, personally, don't like tents/big stashes.I think, backpacks as hide-outs would be totally fine, since no serious big guns could be stored(No Mosin, M4, SKS, etc.)This would encourage to "hoard" food & clothes, med-tools, (maybe also ammo and small firearms), i.e. "real" survival gear. However, I see the need to store guns, etc. for bigger clans. For guns, safes could do the job. Take up a lot of space in the backpack, slow you down, but can hold guns. (Could be opened with explosives and damage the contains, or opened with a blowtorch and not damaging the items inside) Edited June 1, 2014 by irishroy

I do agree with roys safe theory though that a safe could hold a gun but can be easy to break into upon your death and depending if that player has the necessary tools on his person, i do hope to see safes able to be placed on the ground and saved there when people can make minor bases but once again should never be 100% indestructible, bases and safes included. DemonGroover 8836 Posted June 1, 2014 As long as i can destroy your house and everything in it i am fine with locked "safehouses"
cejota14 130 Posted June 1, 2014 So what do u think guys ? I think that we do need some kind of base/camp/safehous/outpost...I mean, we are fighting the undead and trying to survive...we're gonna have to eventually fight, and having a place where to store some of the loot (which is one of the main game's features) to gather and arm ourselves and our groups. But definetively it cannot be permanent, I think you're looking for other games mate. Everything we make and build in game must be able to be stolen/destroyed IE: creating a few wooden walls and a fireplace with a tent, being able to sotre things inside the tent. But somebody could break in and destroy your camp or steal your loot
methr1k2dop3 323 Posted June 1, 2014 Absofuckinglutely notPerma death is what makes Dayz what it is.Storage = no perma deathno perma death = COD Tents and such are fine.As long as other people can come across them.
Element47 2481 Posted June 1, 2014 I'm really tired when my character died, we need start from the below again. THIS IS SO FRUSTRATING ! :( thats the whole point. i really hope persistent storage in standalone will mean persisting during the lifetime of a character, not beyond that. i really felt that in the mod, that was a cheap copout. yeah, we pretend to have permadeath, but we all can completely regear within 20 mins at our tent cities, conveniently stashed away on low-pop nighttime only servers with minimal chances of having those camps raided. i did it myself. stashed my stuff on a UK server that had horrible performance and night time only so noone ever played there. the lag made flying impossible, so your tents north of pobeda or west of pustoshka were absolutely safe. this completelys circumvented the point of permadeath. i hope this wont be the case in SA.
