I want SOME of these authentic gameplay features

So they just released a new "Authentic Gameplay Mod" for Arma 3. I would love to see some of these features in DayZ.

 

 

Some thoughts:

 

- Show names: this is authentic and needs to be in the game regardless of what realism fanboys have to say.

- The realism changes for weapons (e.g. wind/humidity affecting bullet flight) are supposedly being added to DayZ already.

- The medical features are sick. Especially pain.

- Hopefully DayZ gets rid of the horrible action menu entirely but, if not, change it to some kind of radial menu.

I was referring more to the implementation of these features. Some of them are really nice compared to what we have in DayZ.

A name tag system similar to that in dayz epoch would be welcome. In real life we have faces to go by. Not so in game.

Totally forgot 5 different face models, 4 skin tones, and 1 type of body build per sex was reality.

It is more realistic than 1 face model, 1 skin tone and 1 type of body build per sex ;). Dont worry, more will be added. Im sure about it. Not just the number 1 priority for devs at the moment. Edited by Aamunkajo

I hope so. That's one of the things that irritates me most about the SA. In the mod, you could choose a face, like the William Wallace one, to identify your group from distance. In this game however, there's nothing, unless you find a piece of gear. It'd be really nice to have the ability to customize the way your character looked with regard to height, build, hair length, etc., it'd definitely make it a lot easier to recognize group members at a distance, and tell friend from foe from slightly farther away.

Yup, I agree 100%. Mostly I need a long beard on my characters face.

Oh yeah, that one. Honestly they need to include helicopters but make them optional. Some servers wont have them and some servers will. The community is so split down the middle on the topic that its the best way to go.

Because I can accurately identify humans by a quick glance. I don't have to confirm over voice chat.

 

 

Oh yeah, that one. Honestly they need to include helicopters but make them optional. Some servers wont have them and some servers will. The community is so split down the middle on the topic that its the best way to go.

 

Everything is best implemented as a server option, in my opinion. Even friendly fire (on private hives).

Or wear something that makes me stick out like a sore thumb to be identified by my group, like a Blue boonie, or a, unpainted UN helmet.

It's not really name tags, you have to hover your mouse over them and then it show a tool tip with their name.  While I understand Dayz is going for more realism, it leaves a lot in the area of distinctive appearances.  I would be happy with just being able to come up with skins to help distinguish Sniper A from my buddy Sniper B.  Even the military designs their uniforms to make it easy to tell the who is one of your and not.  

 

I would like a more refined movement system.  Not breaking my legs because I jump down off the first story building or being able to dive behind cover...

In my opinion it is as "authentic" a representation of friendly recognition as we can get in this particular video game. You look at your friend, you recognize who he is.

 

Since you love semantics maybe use this definition and open your mind. :)

Lol wat. We don't have a detailed medical system, the current one is shit. Movement needs refinement because we're way too fast. And interaction is FAR from complete a lot of work still needs to be done on all 3 of those things you mentioned. None of those are even close to being finished.

I need to ponder over this. Just doesn't quite feel right to me.

Anyway, I'd rather see in depth character customization than nametags.
