Deathlove 2286 Posted May 23, 2014 Gorror =/= Horror. I have no issue with gore, as I said before, it doesn't really do anything for me either way. Doesn't add anything to the experience for me, yet I don't mind if it's there. However, I've always considered DayZ to be a horror game in the sense that the horror is derived from tension (see Jaws) vice outright gore (see Saw). Gore isn't essential to "horror" in my opinion. In fact, ridiculous amounts of gore can detract from "horror" in my opinion in certain instances. Coming across a pile of eviscerated bodies doesn't really get me scared. Looking past that pile of bodies at the crazed bunch of bandits that committed said atrocity as their torches disappear into the night, that is horror to me.The key is moderation. It doesn't have to be EXTENSIVELY a blood bath but come on its just to fucking clean in this game. And i mean no corpses no nothing. No signs of a struggle or anything in any house or building.
gibonez 3633 Posted May 23, 2014 A person cut in half would be a great way to distingush a person killed from an explosive or gun fire. So yes once IEDS are added to the game such gory character models would be welcomed by me and they would add to the game.
Whyherro123 2283 Posted May 23, 2014 (edited) Like someone else said, Horror =/= Gore. Horror is understated, classy almost. A faded bloodstain on a wall behind a corpse, suggesting suicide. A line of cars stretching off around the corner, with broken windows. A desolate, empty city. The ruins of the world that was. Not that. That is vulgar. That is obscene, and IMHO, entirely unnecessary. Plus the bit where it would essentially ban the game entirely from certain countries. They are cannibals and cannibalism is implied with how they attack you with sheer brute strength of hands and biting. Some of my favorite death scenes iv witnessed in games were from Resident Evil 2 and 3 as well as Silent Hill series. Why stop at "halfway"? For looks? Also, how do we know they are cannibals? They don't bite, just smack you about some. For all we know, the infected could just be "21 Days later-esque" RAGE infectees.

And it is alpha but i HIGHLY doubt they just eat plants. The 28 Days latter rage infected still ate ppl. They starved when there was no one left to kill. Whyherro123 2283 Posted May 23, 2014 there zombies not rage infected people hence the Z in Day Z.No, actually the lead dev specifically said they weren't zombies, just infected people. Thank God.I actually find "infected people" far, FAR more frightening than "classical" zombies. Zombies can't sprint, and have to follow a whole bunch of unrealistic rules that are pretty stupid. They shamble at you, all you have to do is keep up a brisk walk and you should be fine.On the other hand, "infected people" are much more plausible than zombies. Do you know we as a species are overdue for a population-destroying pandemic? The last one was in 1917.

No real intelligence in them, and intelligence is what makes things scary. would have preferred something like the infected from the crossed comics.http://www.crossedcomic.com/ - NSFW Basically its a virus that is transmitted via body fluids including feces, spit , semen etc. The virus forms a rash on the persons face that looks like a cross but what the virus or disease actually does is removes all sense of guilt or humanity in a person and lets them go forth and do their deepest most darkest desires. People on this virus rape, murder, mutilate, torture and simply let their instincts take over.
Grimey Rick 3417 Posted May 23, 2014 Wow guys, it's a zombie game. Zombies eat people. There's going to be gore. If you're a fan of zombie movies (which I assume you'd have to be to be interested in a game based upon them) then you're no stranger to gore. Gore is part of the appeal of zombies. I haven't seen too many "classy" (lol?) zombie movies where the zombies chase down their victims, kill them, and walk away. They feast on you when they kill you! That's part of the horror. It's bad enough to know you're going to die, but to know something is going to freaking maul you, rip open your insides and eat your innards just adds insult to injury.
