Loot placement overhaul?

Hey all,

 

Just an idea that came to mind. What if all the loot in the game was to be randomized all over the map so that it may encourage people to not just fly over to the airfields, what if all the loot was to be random? Yes, I'm talking about finding M4's in regular houses, wool coats in airfields, ACOG scopes in light houses etc

 

This would force the community to actually go around the map and hopefully encourage more people to explore further inland too!

I think ppl have beaten you to the punch on this idea LONG ago including developers. They have mentioned working on more dynamic loot spawns.

with the game in it's current state, the developers are correct in keeping everyone close together. it has made both Berez and NEAF fun. Those that want to 'live off the land' can still run west and loot beans in small towns. those looking for fun stick close to the east and north to encounter other like-minded folk.

However, I do believe there should be incentives for players to spread across the map in the future.

I'm all for randomised loot.

Such as:

 

Loot ammount

-Low

-Medium

-High

 

Loot spawns

-Default

-Random

-Custom

 

I'm thinking Custom is something that gives complete freedom over loot spawns and the loot thet spawn.

It could feature as a menu to show the loot table as an example:

 

Military base

-M4

-SKS

-Axe

-Pipsi

-etc,etc

 

From that menu i can configure what spawns and where effectively (add or more or less loot in the table if i desire).

Although this is something to be considered further ahead in the future.

That's an awesome idea, actually. Though I'm picturing some crazy admins setting ALL the items spawn in just a couple of towns where literally, in 5 min from spawning, you have everything :B

if they never develop an 'end-game', then the absolute focus of SA will remain PVP. For PVP to be maximized, the players actually need to encounter each other, now and then. I am not sure if different loot tables will ever be needed.

DayZ is not only PVP.

It's a survival post apocalypse game.

The only reason to blame that pvp is the main atraction,is the lack of content.

They should focus on more features about survival rather than the gunplay.

It's a must for the loot tables,to be properly configured.

I don't see a problem with an option to turn down the amount of loot. Some people like to play on servers where basic loot is hard to come by. However, I'm not a fan of the ability to turn it up. We're swimming in loot already. If we get the ability to increase it further, we can make a domino line of LRS's across the length of the NWAF. The same goes for giving admins the ability to chose what to spawn and where. It can and will be abused by admins. Therefor, imho, those parts of your proposed system should not be implemented.

I would like 2 or 3 basic levels but not the ability to spam loot and have 50 pristine mosins in 5 minutes

eg;

 

High (basicly like it is now, but all around the map)

Normal (more like Vanilla Mod basics still plentiful but finding a specifc item may require some deal of farming or travel)

Scarce (everything is greatly reduced, you may die of thrist or starve looking for beans)

That would certainly be acceptable for me.

 

We'll have to wait for the dynamic loot spawn and how that works out, though. Not to mention that the max amount of players per server will also be increased in the future. When those two things get implemented, I will certainly review my own statement on giving the admins the ability to do something about the amount of loot spawned on their servers.

What about loot that spawns everywhere in all cities. Except weapons.

Weapons will only spawn in one single city. And then, like the Hunger Games, 3...2...1...Go! All players have to run into that city and find the weapons.

That would be a complete new way of PVP!

No, you should find loot at places where its believable to find it. You should not stumble over military loot in a small remote village without a good reason. If you really want such gear take the risk to go to those bases. Earn it instead of just getting lucky (also way more fun).

i also which "military loot" wasnt just generic to all military bases.

 

eg; each of the airfields would drop different kit- Nato and warsaw pact encampements too perhaps that would have thier faction specific clothing and weapons?

and bring back proper snipers (DMR, SVD, M24 etc) but extemely limitted numbers. and add them to one of the baracks at NWAF saying it was a Special forces post? wuld give a good reason for PvP crews to head north again.

Wouldn't it be awesome if all the military loot locations were removed all for one.

 

Only the north west airfield would remain. Rest of the map full of civie gear and only 1 spot in the map to get high end military loot. Going there would be a death sentence unless you worked in a group and raided quickly.

I like loot spawning in certain places the way it does now, and I am looking forward to the day when the spawn rate on guns and such is turned down. I trip over an SKS or Mosin every time I turn around, and the pistols are even worse.
