Magnum, both in-game and in real life. Reliable, powerful cartridge, ammunition is plentiful, and can never jam (I seriously hope there is a jamming/weapon malfunction thing implemented, both to introduce weapon maintenance as a valid and necessary activity, and to showcase weapons that can't jam, like the revolver and shotgun)

So far its the FNX tied with the 1911 followed by the Magnum closely behind. Maybe this is a clue for the developers to make the other guns more attractive somehow whether its damage power tweaks latter on or something else that makes them just as desirable desirable to use.

Strange you should say that thus far in 280 hours of playing the shotgun is the only weapon that has failed to fire on me( when loaded and still in pristine) although i am pretty sure it was a bug ( one that got me killed as i had snuck up on a sniper and went click click and in the rush of trying to kill him my brain switched off completely and i kept going click click trying to get it to fire while he wasted me..

 

But yeah i agree with your idea of some malfunction/maintenance/cleaning system showing up the reliability of older tech weapons such as revolver ( which is my go to side arm go the python....)

My favorite sidearm is a friend by my side who is armed. Period. I rarely have time to access my actual sidearm when I need it - if I need a sidearm I'm usually already dead.

The magnum for me.  I just find revolvers much more stylish typically.  Hope they add more.

The 1911 is sexy too though.

Sawn off shotgun, to be honest.

But if I have to choose from the handguns... I do not have a preference. I use them to shoot Zeds that get annoying and then scoot before players can react to it. But even for that, the saw-off works nicer. The "Booooooom!" sound is just the best.

Revolver, I hate how they did the other guns. Plus you don't need a magazine and it puts down people very quickly.
