You are Dead at the N W A F Fire station tower

I was on top of one the other day and that started happening to me (screen hits grey like in the video above) and I gtfo off the roof as fast as I could. Thought I was getting shot, but was not bleeding, thought it was odd.

Does it happen when you're going down stairs? Those stairs and stairs in general are very dangerous.

 

Perhaps it's lagging out and not showing you sliding/falling down them then you just instantly suffer the damage and for no reason die.

 

 

It's not sniping you quite clearly hear it when you get sniped. Nobody can shoot you from so far away that you don't hear it.

It happened  to me 3 times in the NWAF fire station tower. One time i was walking down the stairs It might have been lag that killed me when i was on the stairs i might of ran through the wall and fell down and it did not show on my screen that is a well known bug but  i think this is a different  one.  Two times i was standing still in the middle of the tower not on the stairs or on the roof when i was killed i do not think they were lag.  And the last time i know there were no players on the server. + there is the youtube video where a player is prone on the roof of the tower with a friend he got the YOU ARE DEAD message and his friend did not hear a shot.

They could be sniping from 1000m+ on that tower, the west end of the airstrip has a hill, and im sure from that treeline you can get LOS. That's gotta be a good 800m maybe more so would the gunshot sound even reach the player atall?

 

I have to say im sure a lot of these "I am dead" glitches are just peeps being shot from distance. Theres a guy in my squad who I know has just lay ant nwa for like 4-6 hour stints just sniping from a nest. He may have caused a few of these reports lol

 

Never go into the tower, the 2 barracks are your best bet. South one has no real distant LOS nests, but the middle barracks has direct LOS from the small hill other side of the airstrip. You can just sit outside the wall and snipe in with a clear view of tower, hangers, mid barracks....pretty much everything on the other side. Always check that mound (and probs the hill at west end before going in aswell ;)

HV rounds travel faster than sound.

all bullets in the game except the 22 rounds  travel faster than sound but that does not mean you can't hear them and you can take a 22 in the face from 20 ft away and it will not kill you it might knock you out. And for a player with a 22 to snipe  a prone player  when they are on the tower roof they will need to be 100m away or moor to get a good shot they will have a better chance of killing you if they throw the 22 rifle at you

I had this yesterday as well. Was running around the airfield, 3 players on the server, me included.

One guy was trying to kill me, he was camping above, so I shot him with my mosin, and he was on the ground. I went up the stairs on the outside, the airstrip side of the building. When I got up, I saw "my leg is extremely painful" and a split second after that "you are dead". 

 

Think it's indeed a glitch...

 

Ah well, fun running around for hours on end again to get some loot.

there were no players on the server i was not sniped i am looking to see if i was right befour making a bug report and the reason why i went up there is the first 2 times were 3 months ago and i did not think it was a bug with the tower at the time the third time i was after playing dayz mod for 2 1/2 months so i did not think about it and i am righting this to let other players know not to go in the tower  i think the ground floor is ok but not the tower

Yeah but in the game you hear things after you die, pretty sure like every bullet in the game goes faster than the speed of sound anyway yet you hear them when you get killed.

there is a glitch where some shots can not be heard even if the gun was shot next to you. dayz sa is full of sound glitches but the last server i was killed on when i got the YOU ARE DEAD message for no reason  was empty so i was not sniped. there is the stairs glitch but you need to be on the metal stairs for that to kill you i do not know if it is any stairs. so far i only heard of it happening on the metal stairs + the walking through walls glitch where you fall of the building and you never see it happen but you need to be moving for that to happen. i was standing still in the middle of the room looting and sorting my gear for some time my guy was green on everything i was not bleeding or sick there were no zombies no players i just died for no reason and wanted to know if it was a bug so i can make a bug report about it. To everyone who post's clever comments if you do not have something constructive to say about it please stop posting your smart comments just so you can feel good about yourselves.

Happened to me again, on the ladder at NE airfield. This is a real thing, saw this youtube video today where the exact same thing happened on the ladder at the ATC tower...

You can damage clothes/break legs in the tower, but never have I died for no reason in it. You were sniped; most times, the round will hit you before you hear the report of the rifle. This is carried over from ArmA.

Looks very much like a guy being sniped to me (obviously he was not alone on the server since he was scanning the area with his scope).

 

Compare the death of the guy in this video (1:35). Same thing, different location, and this one we know was sniped from 400 m away:

 

I really wish sound was top of the list for things to do.

I don't like how more often than not I cannot hear a buddy magdumping an AKM across the street from me.

This is a common bug, it can happen in Fire station stairs the Dirt humps in red roof barns, and other types or stairs and elevation

happened to me twice times in elektro fire station and one in balota police station. It seems to be when you reach the second floor of something it just kills you off for some reason and usually mainly occurs around stairs.

There are up to three things being confused here:

 

1. Being sniped/glitched sound (but this happens on empty servers, and you still hear after you're dead, and it happens in un-snipable places like the upper floors of the red roof barns);

3. The 'your leg is broken' bug, which seems to happen near stairs and might involve Zs hitting you from below;

4. The 'you are dead' instantaneous bug (which is possibly the most severe form of no.2).

 

My last three deaths have been the insta-fatality on second floors - of a building site, of a barn, and finally on the second floor of the NWAF fire tower (empty server).

 

I just don't go upstairs anymore. Lots of people don't. We can have fishing rods, and animal AI, but we can't actually go upstairs.

Happened to me quite a few times, and there are some spots in particular which are notorious for this. From what I can tell it is due to the physics-system vs. you colliding with walls, stairs and so on, which will read as you going at a high speed into the ground, aka like a fall.

 

* Police stations, both floor and stairs. 

* Small, green guard towers

* Pinetrees

* Colliding with someone running in a barrack/other tight spot.

The classic kill shot comes from the control tower. The shooter location is usually the observation deck, or the stairs via the window. Anyone dumb enough to stand around near a fire station tower window deserves what he gets. I've killed sever bone head snipers trying to work that game. It might be good for Boxer23 to NOT STAND BY WINDOWS. I see no evidence of a game glitch; the 'glitch' is elsewhere and biological.

Why are you even way the hell up there anyway?

There is nothing that will spawn up there that wont spawn within a 5 min walk of B-Town.

I mean if you really like playing Running Sim the Alpha by all means keep going up there otherwise its not worth it. I perfer Grabage Collector Sim the Alpha so i'll just keep picking up loot in Berezino

Coz you get fully geared after a single trip to NWAF. Only noobs are killing fresh spawns at Svetlojarsk, Novo and Berezino. If you want some challenge you are almost guaranteed to meet another fully geared player at NWAF on a 40 slot server.
