Anonymous random servers

Recommended Posts

It would be nice if there was a random/anonymous server option. Everyone on these servers would be a stranger not using teamspeak, no klans. So basically everyone would be forced to socialize during gameplay, and after dying you'd respawn on a random server so you wouldn't be able to get your gear back.

I think this way lonely players wouldn't be inferior to clan/group members.

And only have the option to connect to regular or hardcore and the Dayz SA engine puts you in the next full server. You can maybe join a lobby with friends beforehand and all connect at the same time if squad gaming. Server selected by ping and remaining slots.

While you're at it get rid of day 24/7 servers.

No. The whole point of this would be forcing the player to contact people and make friends in the game.

Anonymous servers would be in a different pool than regular servers. Of course it would only connect to servers with low ping, but randomly choose one of them.

I think this would reduce the number of kos. Maybe a group would start to kos after reaching a certain size.

Right now the game is dominated by groups who are on teamspeak, and snipers who are turning this game into a team deathmatch, ruining it for players who bought it for the rpg experience.

Sorry dude, but this is not going to happen. Stop thinking about it, you will only get disappointed.

Interesting idea. Maybe players could set parameters for the kind of game they'd like to play, like whether the server is hardcore, the rough number of players (I personally don't enjoy playing 40/40 servers, though that might change once respawning loot becomes a thing). Maybe remove the random servers from the main server list so friends will have a harder time finding the same server.

Don't know if this is something I'd use, but it's interesting nonetheless.

Any feature that could "force" the player playing in a certain way will be bad receive by the community.

You better forget it.

It would be optional. Maybe i'll just look for a private server with a "no teamspeak" policy. The only problem is that it cannot be enforced.

I think teamspeak is something that turns the game into a combat simulator. For me the biggest thrill in the game is contacting new people who may be friendly, or hostile. There will be more zombies, so lone wandering won't be an option in the future(at least i hope so), and it's also kinda boring.

I'd like to experience a situation when I find a gun with someone i met 20 minutes earlier, and we have to decide who holds it, but he can't shoot me because he needs a companion to survive.

Maybe I'll just join a clan and use teamspeak like everyone else, after gearing up on empty servers.(That's what everyone else does, right?) I was just looking for a different experience.

Well, everyone is like "It's a post apocaliptic simulator, there are no rules, you cannot have rules".

But telephatically communicating with people you met on an online forum is allright for some reason.

Most people will diss you for using TeamSpeak. Thing is devs already gave their statement on blocking TeamSpeak: they won't do this.

And as to my personal opinion: I use TeamSpeak, for a simple reason: Yes, it's a simulator. But first of all, it's a game. And I want to enjoy it with my friends.

I'm not completely against teamspeak. I just think there should be no teamspeak servers.

I like the concept, servers would have to stop friends joining via steam. You could add the people you meet on steam then swap to the regular servers when your ready. I cant see clans braving the login timer long enough to all get on the same one of these servers, providing there are enough "anonymous" ones.

You could be fairly sure most are lone wolfs, or teams created on the fly. Not seasoned Arma vets, in well organised packs, roaming round wasteland style lol

Only downside I can see is not may people wanting to host a server they cant use with friends. Maybe if Bohimia/Server providers could give a cheaper rate for anonymous servers or something, to help promote them being used.

Id like and option like this for lone wolfing :)

It's actually a great idea for the huge population of solo players out there ... I myself play solo when my friends are bein queer and don't wanna play dayz , I don't have a clan either so if I ever feel like playing with a bunch of people that I know aren't silently speaking with their buddies , I could do that on these "randomized servers" . Beans to you O.P hopefully your suggestion comes true ;] .
