Zombies "realism"

I had the idea of herds of zombies but i saw other people already writing about it.

What i think, could exist some types of zombies respawn or spawn, some rare and some medium (in rarity) and some common.

A rare spawn could be a big herd that could spawn in the border and make a path till it found something, or someone. This could happen by chance, randomly, like once a week, but as a chance it could have twice within a week or pass two weeks without it. Who knows.

 

Could have some packs spanwning like 10 to 20 zombies with medium chance to occur, and smaller groups 1 to 5 or 1 to 10 more often.

 

Could exist different types of zombies like runners and slowers ones, harder and weakers. A pack or herd of runners is like world war Z. I think those should be less zombies than a pack or a herd of slow zombies. That's more like a herd in Walking dead.

 

But only way to do that is the second classification, i think zombies should be easier to kill, but should have much more zombies in the world, sometimes you don't feel like in a zombie apocalypse sometimes seems more like a nuclear war or disese apocalypse.

 

The common zombie should be easy to kill but should be more abudant. Hard zombies should be few but much harder to kill.

 

Perhaps some harder zombies should be the pack or herd "leader" and the other follows him, once he's dead they split and roam individualy.

With this same idea of a herd "leader" when a "hard" zombie spawn zombies near him or near his path (500 meters), could get linked and follow him as a "leader" and as the time passes a natural herd or pack was created.

Hard zombies should be few but much harder to kill.

 

"Military type" zombies are supposed to be thouger (but currently I don't really see any difference).

i have, it took 2 shots to bring it down, instead of 1 shot.

Military is stronger indeed, but the others in melee, You sometimes takes forever, should be easier but have multiple enemies all the time.

Isn't fun you turn around and around 2 minutes to kill a single normal zombie

How about fixing zombie path finding, spawning out of thin air and running through solid objects first?

how about. if someone shoots, all zombies in the hearing radius walk toward the sound (not running just slowly walking there) currently zombies aggro the shooter within 100 meters and run towards the player not the sound source. so if there is a firefight, all zombies walk towards it and if you are unlucky, the zeds see you

Think more like 100-200 myself ;)

 

The mod had 4-6 zeds spawning out of nearly every building, you could build up monster agro in the big cities. Im all for hordes, I have a cool scenario in my head where a survivor thinks hes spotted another survivor on the horizon of a hill. The lillte KoS nab decides to shoot him......only it wasn't a survivor....it was a horde that he only saw one of. When he shoots its like something out of Total war games and a mass of zombies crest the hill sprinting towards the sound :D

I said 10 - 20 zeds is a pack not a herd or horde.

Yeah neither do i, they are all hard to kill with current melee system

Zombies not hard to kill, they're only annoying to kill. It's easy, get around him hitting the head. When he drops, keep hitting the head, he'll fall again. But sometimes it takes a lot of time, so it's easy but annoying cos it consumes a lot of time.

Talking about Zombie "realism", maybe DayZ will reward stealthness (avoid zombies confrontation) because it was never intended to get great fun by killing them(?)

Annoying or not, when hordes will appear (and diseases), I bet it would be at least "challenging" to stay alive.
