Unarmed Weapons

i find that punching in dayz is very popular. you can knock players or zombies unconscious, or just brawl other new spawns for fun.. i thought it would be a good idea to add maybe some cool unarmed weapons? to start, here is a picture of spiked knuckles which could inflict bleeding on a player or zombie once struck with the thorns on it.

what do you guys think?

the extent to which unarmed weapons could go is slightly limited. as in, there wouldnt be much variety. the spiked knuckles, maybe boxing gloves or regular brass knuckles would probably suffice for an entire unarmed catagory. the way you could use it, im thinking of it like, where you can pick up something in dayz in your hands, the unarmed weapon would clip onto your hands and then you could use it for fighting.

Hello there

 

A maglite torch (even an AA battery size one) can cause considerable damage to humans. Trust me. So the big torch we carry should be able to deliver a good whack.

As with every hard object that transfers energy back into the fingers..it has the potential to break the users fingers. That's why they constucted knuckle dusters that you have the place it in the base of your hand so the force of the punch is absorbed by your arm. Like the boxers wrap their hands or else they would turn their fists into pulp.

I was about to make a thread on the idea of brass knuckles or other kinds of fist weapons. Did a search instead and saw this thread. I normally don't necro threads but this is an awesome idea and would be easy to implement.

 

The punching animation doesn't need to change. Weapon just needs a texture to go with it and a damage increase. Could be done in less then a day probably. 

 

From what I can tell it takes about 4 headshots with normal fists to kill a zombie. My suggestion would be to make it take 2 with fist weapon. That would bring it inline with some of the other stronger melee weapons. 3 would be fine too.

 

Really I just like the precision of the punching as it stands now and would like to see that extended into fist weapons.
