meat pie 632 Posted May 10, 2014 Dayz is one of the last games being made with gameplay in mind not foucus testing or story or crap. I dont care how long it takes because its allready more of a video game then most things on the market.
gibonez 3633 Posted May 10, 2014 The mod support in the road map should be pushed up. I have faith in the Arma community not the devs. The community will fix all of the crappy stuff from stand alone.

I have faith in the Arma community not the devs. The community will fix all of the crappy stuff from stand alone. I haven't played SA in a while but I started playing A3: Breaking Point again after a longer break. It made me remember two important things.1. The A2/A3 modding community is amazing.2. "Add to Group" is the best feature ever. #plzrocket

Pokerguy12 218 Posted May 10, 2014 Because its all about the money money money...... Its all about the price tag...honestly this community is a joke, look at all the straw man arguments being made, its almost like there are a bunch of "regulars" that patrol the forums scouting for threads complaining about slow development to make their bullshit point that an alpha early release game has the right to develop a game at such an incredibly slow pace with pathetic progress befitting of a poor first time indie game studio of two friends. I mean what is this? The Dayz alpha avengers, I can imagine their slogan "alpha avengers assemble, we have a thread questioning the competency if it overlord dean hall, we must mobilize our forces to spam that thread with as many nonsense and straw man comments as we can. We know there isn't any logic behind our cause and we could never prove our ridiculous point with coherent reason, so we must drown out his opinion with masses of our nonsense and out number him to make it seem we are right"....Bi has the right to do what they want whenever they want, if they decide to add unicorns and rainbow guns into the game, they have the right to but that doesn't make it right. It is a fact that compared to other giants of the gaming industry they are moving at less than a turtles pace, if this is even a close representation of the progress made. More than 60million dollars were made in the span of a few months, now I don't know the salaries of game developers but if anything they should try their best to please and satisfy their consumer base in return for their support. It has been 3 years since de development of the "server architecture" started and If after all that a mess of desync and crashes is all that they have to show, considering there was mod which they based the design around was already in existence that should have given them a head start, it is an intelligent statement to say that many other studios would have made more progress than bi having the same amount of capital, resources and time that they have.So yes this is a game in alpha, but ignoring all the fan boys and religious fanatics here the facts speak that the dayz project is slow and overdue, most of what is in game is mostly ported over from previous content in the mod. They should hurry up regardless of how many staff have been hired, fire the project manager and sell the project to another studio that will handle the project better they don't improve. scriptfactory 620 Posted May 10, 2014 (edited) What does the add group feature do again ? It's just a basic party system (very minimal). I have grouped up with so many randoms in Breaking Point. It is probably because you need at least one partner to raid the military bases (and because of the way loot respawn works). In addition to their faction system the game feels so much more social than DayZ. KoS still exists but grouping up with randoms is so much more common. I can't wait for a Breaking Point mod for SA. I think my Leg is Broken 46 Posted May 10, 2014 If you're running and you want to go faster, do you start throwing wads of cash at your legs or something?
gibonez 3633 Posted May 10, 2014 If you're running and you want to go faster, do you start throwing wads of cash at your legs or something? No but money would allow you to hire professional runners to either train you to run faster or hire enough to pick you up so you actually travel faster. Money = man power. DemonGroover 8836 Posted May 10, 2014 Ever hear of costs. Just because they have made 2 million x $30 doesn't mean that they have $60 million in cash lying around to spend on development. We have no idea on the costs and overheads involved. Sure BI has undoubtedly made money but the vast amount you think is simply not true.
Caboose187 (DayZ) 3036 Posted May 10, 2014 Ya, Development is sooo slow. In 5 months they've only added some new townssome new citiessome new weaponssome new itemsanimationsinfected placeholder respawn mechanicperformance tweakscraftingberry picking Damn you BiS for being bad at what you do. You should hire EA to finish your game so we could have a fully bugged release that we'd have to buy DLC to fix.
gibonez 3633 Posted May 10, 2014 Say they hired 10,000 more devs today. Would the game be finished next week? No. That's not how things work. I never said that. I merely said if you want to run faster you can use money to make that happen. I doubt 10,000 mediocre devs will boost the speed of the games development. What might is hiring experienced devs who have worked on huge projects in the past. Or just bring in more of the Arma 3 devs inhouse those guys know how to make a game and an engine. How can you call BI a giant in the gaming industry? They are not that popular, in fact to call them even remotely giant is imprudent. 2. Nothing from the mod was ported over to the Standalone, because it simply is too much of a difference from RV2 and the modified "Rocket" RV3.5 (Not officially called that.) 3. Your wrong again by saying that they created their own server architecture 3 years ago. This is a new server architecture only purely made for DayZ Standalone, this has little resemblance to ArmA servers (Although this is referring to the way it is coded). 4. You saying that were a bunch of fanatics that have no factual backup yet here you are speaking out like you have every knowledge pertaining towards this subject like your Mark Spanel....it is strikingly funny though because you yourself are so wrong about your own facts. However, this is fun, so keep at it Doctor Smarty Pants.
