felt really bad q.q

last night was a very depressing night on dayz. first off we had a truck running and were collecting parts for 2 other broken down trucks we found. (there were 4 of us.) it was me and my bud driving around and the other 2 were murdering anything that moved in cherno. but anyways, we were driving around zelenogorsk and he was driving. i hopped out to do some scouting and when i scout i go into the zone i tune out everything and focus on survival. mainly vs players. i heard shooting and there was some asshat shooting some zeds. popped 2 rounds into his head with my silenced rifle. he went down and then the yelling.... that was my driver and i hadnt heard him say he was getting out -_- so that made me feel like shit and he quit for the night so i went to pick up one of the guys in cherno. he was looking for 2 tired to get the other truck going, i hid the truck in the bushes and hid in the bushes myself. one of my annoying starcraft 2 buddies was spamming my facebook. i alt+tabbed out for 15 FUCKING seconds. i pop back in and some dickhead is driving off with our truck. now were buying out own server tonight anyways but jeesh. i felt so depressed. bad night for being a bandit for me q.q

No I think he means he can lock-down the server to allow only x amount of players which coincidently is the same as the amount of his buddies. And then have the whole map for their own loot-farming extravaganza.

Meh, and this is why i dont venture out of the starcraft 2 manner obsessed community much. For clarification, we want our own server because we see alot of new players that have no idea whats going on and are spawncamped by a team of bandits. what we want to do is to just have fun, teach the new players and make the transition into the game a bit easier for them I.E giving them a bit of food and taking them around and showing them the ropes if they want. thats what happened to me, i was picked up by a group of bandits ( go figure) and they helped me become insanely proficient with the game quite quickly. If a new player joins our server and would like assistance as many do then we will help.

@Jemoeder , if someone happens to steal my truck then i hope they take good care of it and ill go find another or ask for a pickup from one of my clan members. possibly ill attempt to hunt them down for sport later but i rarely invest that effort due to the maps insane size.

@tickle_me_jesus indeed we do intend on locking down the server from time to time because several of us are vfx designers and machinima producers. i dont know about my clan mates but i really dont care alot about loot. ive had nvg's gillie suits, cz550's, and anti material rifles. so im not so into the loot moreof i am a rts gamer at heart so i enjoy stting up a base and playing army. so setting up tents and tank taps and a cute little encampment is what i deem as relevant. not loot. additionally if you have ever tried to make a movie or video with random asshats running around killing you, well if not it really interrupts the process. :)

were locking down the server for 2-3days once weve launched to find a repair a Huey for a video for INexus Dubstep and RHYNO. otherwise we hope to see you on dallas 200 :)

Nice idea, but please bear in mind that this is not really allowed for an "official" server. Just so that you know, you should get "approval" from the staff, or else your server is blacklisted.

You are not impressing me with your intelligence OP.

You have just stated that you are buying your own server so that you and your clan;

1. Can have control over who plays on it.

2. Can control who has the vehicles and who doesn't.

3. Can lock the server when ever you feel like it to fix up vehicles, loot farm and do all other kinds of dick head things.

4. Lock the server any time you want to make movies.

Yeah... good luck getting that server white listed. Even doing this "quickly at night" will cause an all mighty shit storm in the Cheat Reporting forum. Go, check out the amount of Admin Abuse threads being started for just this sort of shit.

*sights* its late so i will assume my previous post was unclear so i will attempt to repeat my intentions without confusion.

#1 anyone is welcome. every server has down time. im not controlling who does and dosnt play im merely stating that will instate down time once we have negotiated a agreement with dayz staff. the fine points of that agreement will be discussed later on and i will see how that goes.

#2 we dont care who has and dosnt have vehicles. i reread my earlier post and nowere does it say were controlling vehicle population. reference #1 for the rest.

#3 a guy on page 1 said the same thing and i corrected him so heres my 2nd shot. we arent interested in loot. were graphics designers for god sakes. ive already had all the items you can have and all the vehicles. the buzz to obtain a item is gone. im left with the creative aspect of dayz. again #1 will dictate this. staff may have some boundries for us to follow to which we will do to a T

I have a feeling that if we are to do what we intend i have no doubt that staff may propose a cordoned off locked media only server that cannot be opened by the public or something of the sort. or we can just go ahead an do our shoots with random people in the server with hopes they dont interfere.

i in no way intend to violate rockets rules and earlier a fine fellow brought it to my attention that locking the server for a hour every 4-5 days for a quick little secure shoot is probally against the rules. therfore i will make sure that my ideas are ran by the staff and that all rules are obeyed. im not a hackfag or script kiddie and i have no intention of becoming one. Now for the sake of the rules already pre-established this is a bandit forum and i dont think that a discussion regarding server control by admin is the best way to add to this fine subsection. :)

Well there is some chance, several weeks ago there was another servers which got some agreement with the staff for filming purposes. So yeah, as long as you know you really, really can't lock down a server even during low-population periods: it would be a shame if you get blacklisted for that.

So, let us know how it is going and when the server is up, so we can play!
