"Wearable" Gas lamps! Yes? No?

Recommended Posts

Was playing and it began to get dark and I had an idea come to me. No its nothing new but its a feature that DayZ lacks at the moment. I personally dread playing at night due to lack of sight lol. I don't mind wearing headlamps, but I had an idea. As the title says, a "wearable" gas lamp.

When I say wearable, I mean in the sense of the inventory spaces, it becomes an item you are wearing and doesn't take up bag space, but it hangs from your side or something on your belt. I think it would be pretty cool, it would illuminate the surrounding area.

OR

You can just walk around with it in your hands holding it up by your face, I don't mind either way. Reason being for the wearable would be to keep your hands free for a weapon or melee.

I think in general this would just look cool.

BRING ON THE SURVIVAL ASPECTS! This is just another idea to add that would bring this game to the top and away from the common open world PVP that seems to be developing lately.

Let me know what you guys think or how we could build on it!

Cheers!

EDIT///

Perfect example of what im talking about and want!

I believe so, just saying. I was going more for the wearable option :)

If shot, will it set your character on fire?

YES! I like your thinking. lol

YES! I like your thinking. lol

Then you have my vote, in regards you should also be able to hang them on fences, buildings and some tress branches as distraction devices whilst you loot cities.

Man you are just running with this lol. I really like your thinking, in regards to hanging it on things, it could make for a cool immersive "homemade" settlement of some weary travelers huddled under a tree.

It would be cool if you could clip the gas lamp to the backpack or on the hip.

It would be so swag if we could get wearable lanterns, because Dean is so fond of Skyrim, why not build it like this popular mod?

I'd like to see this, as well as more items actually showing up on your person when in your inventory.  Lantern looped through your belt, clipped to a jacket, or hanging off your pack (depending on where you have it) A flashlight sticking out of your pocket, butt of a handgun visible.  Say I find a V mask, can't don't want to wear it under my helmet, so I put it in my pants inventory, I'll have a V mask strapped to a pantsleg or something, have it in my jacket it'll be strapped to my arm.  Rocket said a long time ago he would want things like that in.

That sounds awesome, I'd want all my pockets filled with flash lights, so that everyone knows I've offered "condolences" to many people on the coast.

Clip it on your hard-hat

xn9ai0.jpghow about a real headlamp instead of a gas lamp with your hard hat

But he mean hand-free gas lamp...like tieing it to your backpack so it hangs in there lighting the place up

The headtorch are pretty damn useless to me...when I aim, the light goes way down so I can't aim basically :(

Also, the light is pretty narrow, way more than in real life...it's just frustating, So I just use a pistol flashlight

PS: Before it was fixed...I used to put a gas lamp on my backpack and turn it on...that was enough to light the whole place

Before anything is done to the flashlights though, they need to fix the light bleeding through walls as if they weren't even there.

Actually they need the fix the gamma / brightness exploit 1st.

I haven't used a gaslamp since shortly after launch but last time I did it illuminated the area even when in my inventory.  Did they fix that?

Any ways, I'm in agreement that being able to hang it on your pack or something would be a good addition.  Maybe glowsticks will function similar to how they did in the mod and serve the same purpose.

I don't think we should be able to fix a gas lamp to our gear while burning due to realism. You have any idea how hot a gas lamp becomes when burning? We have the headlamp for illumination while keeping your hands free and I agree both angle when aiming as the flood should be fixed.

Edit: I do agree we should be able to hang the gas lamps on stuff.

BTW: I would also like to see the old fashion storm lamps and fuel for it. In a setting like Chernarus I think the old kerosene lamps would be more numerous than gas lights.
