Bambis should spawn with a 1 time use Bicycle to help with trekking.

Recommended Posts

I think it would be a good idea when people spawned they get this 1 time use bicycle that looks/is inferior to the (later to be added) normal bike.

So when you spawn it can start with animation of your character getting on the bike. It should boost your Sprint speed by anything of x1.5-2.0 at maximum gear. It should break down and fall a part when you get off it.

Here are the positive points:

1) Will relieve some of the pain to get back to your preferred location, friends, or whatever.

2) Will still allow you go explore and physically access the landscape, just at a faster speed.

3) Bambis will be a harder target, I say most will agree that friendly bambi's should not be KOSed or Grieved.

4) No long term benefits, As soon as you get off the bike it falls apart. You cannot loot, or equip weapons.

5) Allows you to outrun Zeds when you don't have any weapon avoiding death as a fresh spawn.

6) Might stop all the stupid suicides for abusing the spawning system.

7) Would just generally make things more joyful as a fresh spawn.

8) Can fit in with the immersion or realism, your character could have picked up a bike at any time in his story.

9) Cannot be stolen and taken from, bike falls apart if user is killed/gets off.

Negative points:

Can't really think of any besides some people crying about how increased speed will ruin the game, or some hardcore trekking guys! (You could always get off the bike and not use it)

Edit:

Ah well, it’s apparent from the views here on the forums that this idea is bad.

However if there was a poll for everyone that had bought the DayZ SA then I believe fast traveling would be in favour on that poll, no doubt. I bet it will be a very popular need for many gamers. There’s more Casual + Moderate Players than hardcore gamers, It's generally the hardcore gamers that find the most pleasure and joy in the most frustrating parts of a game.

I recommend you drop this ego of hardcore, the speed of travel is not a factor of how this game is easy or hard, Getting somewhere in 5 mins as oppose to 50 minutes doesn't measure up the difficulty of the game if you are just talking about running from point A to point B, without any puzzles or game mechanics to solve.

And I'm pretty sure everyone one of us (I hope) has friends that would laugh their heads off and say "yeah, I'm not getting that game" when you tell them it could take up to an hour just to meet up in game.

Don't alienate all the other potential players. It won’t turn out good for you too in the end.

I know it's a suggestion for the future dude, vehicles and bikes will be rare, so my idea still stands.

Hahahah, nice one!

But Speed doesnt change anything, the same people who will run to AF's will also bike it to AF's, All it means is they will get there faster, Besides AF's is a dangerous place, and mostly for server hoppers as high pops have been looted already.

For that reason alone, they should spawn like this:

For lone wolfs this might be the case, but others want to play with their friends 30+ minutes to get back to your friends is unreasonable while a bike will reduce this time by half.

and DayZ seems like a game to play with friends, Strength in numbers, just like in real life.

Seriously because of the way travel and spawn works currently everyone just adjusts to whereever the spawn locations are, for example NEAF = New Bolota, Berinzino = New Elektro, People just play near spawn points, so if they die they can run back in 5-10mins, how is this any better?

If anything bikes will allow more spreading out.

How the hell is this in any way realistic?

A bike that falls apart after one use? That's stupid, bikes don't do that.

Suddenly pulling a bike out of my ass? Also stupid.

How does your character even appear at his location? Pulls himself out of his ass does he? Are bikes rare in the real world? Theres a bike in every street in a city.

As for the bike breaking down it's a game mechanic to balance it out, can be any form or factor, "my chain has snapped" or "my wheel has burst" it doesn't need to fall apart like rubble.

but others want to play CoD with their friends 30+ minutes to get back to your friends body to pick up that sweet, sweet loot is unreasonable while a bike will reduce this time by half.

I hear what you're saying, even if it's not what you're typing.

That 30 minutes would be halved if your buddies stopped holding hands at the airfield clanwars and ran to meet you on the way from the beach.

L2P. Simple as. I always hide my victims bodies after I loot him. I never ever run back to my body, Gear people are just waiting for you to do that.

Please don't put words into my mouth, makes you look trashy.

Edit, Oh i see what you did there completely changed the post from "getting your loot from your dead body" rant. lol.

Yeah we should make it so if you find a battery you can turn that into a bycycle, and turn it back into a battery and everytime you do it goes back to full health, just like the mod!

I really do not see what's the issue with walking... if chernarus was a little more realistic, distances would be 2-3 times what we have now. Walking from A to B is long, get used to it, that's why we invented vehicles, you gotta make due without them.

Let's give new spawns guns, ammo and food as well as this magical bicycle!

Emphatic No to easy mode!

DayZ is meant to be a game for people who seek the hardcore experience, fast travel got implemented in games to make it easier for lazy people, I'd be fine if Skyrim didn't have fast travel. If you honestly think this is a good idea than this game is not for you.

Well Lucky for me that vehicles and Spawn control points are all things to be implemented in this game, and I bet many more to come. As Appealing to Most is more important than appealing to some.

Then the game won't be for you guys :P

You still have no idea what kind of game you bought, do you?

It's the easy mode people(casuals if you want to call them that) trying to change the game we "hardcore" players want. The only difference is that we KNOW what we bought into and that's the game it's going to be. It's that simple.

Well Lucky for me that vehicles and Spawn control points are all things to be implemented in this game, and I bet many more to come. As Appealing to Most is more important than appealing to some.

When vehicles are implemented you do realize you'll have to work to get that vehicle working right? It's not just going to appear fully working, there will be tons of work and travelling on foot involved to get it going.

As for these spawn control points... I believe it was something talked about when bases were actually implemented and it wasn't set in concrete. It was an idea thrown around. Any thing that will make this game easy mode will get tossed, I assure you.
