No, i could have been on that button if the system implemented was a bit more smart, like kick/desync/rejoin should not add any timers, even if an admin could abuse the kick command, as i sayd on another topic this placeholder system is born flawed and need to be reworked.

I just see noobs crying to increase it for the lulz, i will lulz when they will start to have any problem ahah.

Im in favor of it. Its just a necessary evil to prevent ghosting and loot-farming exploitation. Yes it sucks when you join a server thats lagging/crappy/etc and optionaly try to switch servers and all-i get it! but i dont really see any viable other solution thats not prone to being exploited in some way and solved both PvE and PvP abuse.

I know my old clan often would go to high value- areas like NWAF and repeatedly server hop between low pop servers to accelerate Loot cycling efficency.

The 500Seconds also means that you have a considerable amount of time to wrap up a PvP scenario and re-locate if one of your opponents were to DC behind a corner in hopes of re logging behind you.

This login timer system needs to be scrapped. The reason it exists are three-fold:

1. It is a huge performance strain on the servers to load a new character.

2. Campers complain about ghosting and combat logging.

3. Server hoppers take loot from "legitimate" players.

So how do we fix these problems:

1. To fix the server performance problem add a queuing system for player logins. Make the player priority based on the amount of servers they have recently logged in on.

2. To fix ghosting save player location on a per-server basis. This would approximate a private hive system on a global scale. To fix combat logging prevent logging out in a player is detected to be in combat. If a player is shot at or shoots another player make sure their characters stays on the server for at least 5 minutes.

3. To fix server hoppers see #2.

Just my opinion.

I'd be interested in the communities thoughts on this poll.

Wait. There is a 500 second login timer? Really? I had no idea. I haven't been interested in DayZ of the latest.

Do you understand that timer wont stop hoppers?

I hate i because of session lost or battleeye failed to update andthen i have to wait for joining same server.I dont see point for having a timer cause hoppers can still server hop.

It is not just the quick looting that made the team implement the 500 second timer.

The main reason for it was the fact that spawning a geared player on a new server was and still is the most demanding thing that the central server has to do. If you switch servers, it bogs down the entire network. Rocket stated this yesterday on reddit.

Let me get my last few working braincells around that..

The new server architecture designed entirely from the ground up for a game where players will be regularly connecting and disconnecting to such servers almost poops itself each time this happens?

What the pooping poop were they smoking when they thought this was a good idea?

The only reason i said yes is because i doubt it stops server hoppers or ghosters. Ghosters would probably do it regardless of the time and server hoppers just want to loot up before thier next round of PVP. So really its just punishing players who get desynced out of the game.

Am I the only one that is able to play the game without being kicked repeatedly..? I don't understand. I think the bigger problem here is the ridiculous amount of servers being hosted. I don't know a thing about server architecture, but that might be putting more strain onto them.

Maybe there should be a cap set on the number of servers hosted at any one time. If the server hosting companies don't like the idea of losing revenue because of the loss in customers, they can just jack up the price of hosting a server. Not only would this reduce server strain (which I'm basing on absolutely nothing) but it would also insure that only serious people are admining servers.

Also, fuck all of you pussies gearing up on empty servers and then hopping onto full ones to start shooing everything up. This is your fault.

The old timer was better:

You get kicked = 0 s wait.

You spend a lot of time on a server and later go to a different one = ~30s.

You outright server hop = 300s.

Currently its:

You get kicked = 300s wait.

You spend a lot of time on a server and later to go to a different one = 330 - 500s.

You outright server hop = 500 - 600s.

The first two are bullshit: You are being punished for something outside of your control (server restart) and for actually sticking to a server for a while. There are cases where you need to reconnect elsewhere (ex. server is having a lot of lag issues, not ping, not even desync, it just feels like the server is being slow and overloaded).

Bottom line: this shit has to go.

Just watch - next update they'll pull a shit like WarZ did where you need to wait a few hours to play.

About people complaining about ghosters:

1) They removed the spawn sounds. How about you complain about that? I had a guy appear out of thin air in a shed I was sitting in because they no longer make any sound (I riddled his ass with bullets).

2) Under the old system the fastest you could ghost in on someone would be 330 seconds. That's 5 and a half minutes. Not to mention that back then spawning in players used to make the reloading noise and are unresponsive for about the first 5-10 seconds.

Is this a good fix for ghosters? (Remove logging sounds and increasing wait timers on everyone)

Fuck no.

The timer needs to stay.

However the timer needs to be fixed so you do not get it when joining the same server.

If you quit and want to join another server due to silly reasons like its night, or you want to join friends then wait 10 minutes.

How can you ghost if you spawn in on the exact same location ?

Disconnecting from a server and then reconnecting to the same server = same position as when you left.

That is not ghosting.
