Removal of South Coast spawns can't be due to Balota

Recommended Posts

Why?

In Experimental I spawned on a mountain overlooking NEAF.

I was able to sprint there, and in under 10 minutes, be geared to the teeth. I had a loaded gun, a nice large backpack, a TTSKO jacket, and some other goodies including a UK assault vest.

This was on a near-full server.

Now, what does this have to do with Balota?

Well, if Balota is the reason we don't see southern spawns, that's absolutely stupid. NEAF is practically the same as Balota- Balota has the tents, sure, but those only spawn ammo, attachments, and other goodies for once you have a gun. NEAF can still get you a nice weapon, locked and loaded, without much hassle.

Plus, with the new, larger servers, I fear 80% of them will be at the Northeast coast. Why not spawns going from the Northeast coast to the Southwest coast?

Both the Southwest spawns and the Northeast spawns put you in places where guns and military loot is only a stone throw's away.

And if you can't get anything at the NEAF but some lead flung at your general direction, just follow the rails til you're near NWAF and swim in mags and high-quality firearms.

I don't see why we don't spawn all along the coast- Balota isn't a problem. Plus, why not make it a Civilian airport if its military airfield-ness is so disrupting to the southwest coast?

Due to the primarily Northeast spawns, everyone is isolated to a small area and people like me who head inland, north, south, or west, find ourselves with little player interaction. It gets boring. It forces us to head back to a small strip of deathmatch coast to meet anyone.

100 player servers are going to need more spawns, and why not just have them all along the coast? That way everything is nice and spread out, and yet the coast will still be a hotspot.

NE Airfield has less spawns than Balota. Plus it's not just Balota. Count Kamenka and Zeleno in there too. That makes 3 big cities and another massive mil place in the south, all within easy reach of eachother. A tad too much.

Anyway I don't think the current botched spawn rates will last long. You shouldn't be able to find anything you need by visiting just one place.

I'm all for the East player spawns as long as there's lots of them, including some further inland, and it makes sence to head west for better stuff.

Tents drop handguns + mags like its nobodies business. Other than that, I guess Zeleno and that one base in the forest would be really close too, people would ignore the east most likely.

Really though, I don't see why we don't have completely random spawns across the entire map.

Because they want it to be like you're waking up in an apocalypse or you're washing upon shore, instead of just being dropped in the map.

I don't think it's solely because of Balota, but it's just a blanket loot system that isn't biased at all. I'd like to see it biased inland.

Ah I see. Seems silly though, you'd probably be just as likely to 'wake up' anywhere during an apocalypse. Unless they come up with an official backstory for the players as to why we all spawn on the beach, but that would kinda be counterintuitive to the sandbox/RP side.

the new spawn system is just an experiment to see how player behavior changes .

I am sure it is not the final design. I expect a completely random spawn system to be in place eventually spawning you in land randomly in a house or the woods.

Yeah, idk if you played the mod, but the only spawns were on the coast.

They moved the spawn points for several reasons..

1. Electro and Cherno have notorious low FPS, they found the issue and need time to fix it.. shortly after this they moved the spawns. I believe they intended to give people a better experience if the tendency was to stick near the spawn areas.

2. To test their new towns like Svetlo and the inbound other one... I dunno the name. Lets call it Deanville.

3. Now there is equal chance for people to get gear that others used to trek an hour for. The NEAF is near all spawns now, and the loot in Svetlo and Berezino is enough to get fully geared almost as is. Now players who are new, or not oriented to the map fully can still have a chance of getting geared by heading towards the somewhat easy to find NEAF.

4. They be trolling. I think they like trolling over there. It breaks the monotony of coding and testing all day I suppose. ;)

Final note, the new loot spawn is being tested right now in Exp.. When they nail that down and release it properly.. everyone will be geared in an hour or so on every server unless they just stay in the same town without traveling at all. So spawns will be a moot point for the most part.
