Strange distribution of loot in dif servers

Recommended Posts

Hello friends,

(I have .5 and Beta)

I checked several servers (EU1-24; UK1-24, RUS5-9) and I noticed one strange thing. In servers that do not use beta - youll find better loot. And EU beta servers is richer then UK, and RUS.

Today i cheked 7 deer stands in UK24 - 4 was empty, 2 had empty cans and one had M4 ammo. But in EU7 ive got good gun in first deer stand, in 2 others lots of ammo and compas.

And in UK servers almost all buildings in the east part of the map is half empty or empty. Checked east side Airstrip and found TOTALY nothing, not a single empty can.

However, after examination of the eastern airport in EU server I found a bit of food and ammunition.

So my q would be - Who decides how much the server has a catch, and why it is permissible? I thought that this matter is controlled by the same mod.

Thank you

It's realistic. The UK has no money, so no one could afford any food or drink or decent items. Also the restrictive gun laws means hardly anyone but criminals had access to decent weapons when the infection hit.

Also the hospitals have a 3 month respawn timer (waiting list) on any medical supplies on UK servers.

I like the realism. It's refreshing.

By that logic, Jono. I should be up to my eyes in guns playing in the Atlanta servers. Doesn't always work out that way. (Medical supplies are in mass amounts, oddly enough)

Random loot is random. Amazing isn't it?

Got your point mate...

But after 8 days you start to c difference between the servers

Correlation =/= Causation

I seriously doubt that the location of the server affects loot.

Kinda agreed but try it - check deer stands (i did 7 in bouth) in UK 24 and EU 7.

I understand when you find scrap or tin cans, but when you find nothing, and server has only few players...

Not the actual location of server, but maybe admins.

I gues only ROCKET could know.

a lot of loot you find is loot that's been picked over by players, hence shittier piles. and often when you hit up a spot that has 0 loot, that means loot has not spawned there in a long long time. the server deletes items that have not been picked up in a while, and when you go there it takes a while of you being away from the area for it to spawn fresh loot.

whether a server is running beta or not's effect, well, loot is a dayz thing. there's no loot spawn in arma ii, which is what the beta patches are for specifically. not ruling it out but, i don't think the beta patch has anything whatsoever to do with loot

Don't know about differing between servers, it just seems random as hell.

Spent 2 days looking for matches and found not one box, but on the first day I could have opened a watch shop and the second a knife shop! Seems Randomized but not??!!

Although can't complain as last night whilst stood in a deer stand at Balota medical camp a lovely AK74u spawns right next to me just as I was about to climb down :)

7 deer stands is hardly an accurate sample size, try a 1000 then let me know the difference. Then you might have a case.

Dat Control Group. :D

Probably wouldn't want to hit a thousand. Twenty (20) should do it. That would give you a half-percent range. Easier to figure...

Unless you just like math.

it's as random as it can get from what i can tell after visiting a barn, finding a rifle, 5 cans of soda, 1 meat, and a water bottle, then comeing back another day and it haveing tin cans everywhere.

Since the release of patch 1.7.1.5, i have only ever found 1 car and that was on a UK server, so going by your logic, UK servers have a better chance of spawning a car.

Its all just luck.

You should not find meat spawning anywhere, it is obtained through hunting, unless you are talking about canned food 'Franks and Beans' as it has 'meat' hardly... lol just covering all bases. Meat is hunted, so that means another player likely dropped it there to pick something else instead.

This discussion reminds me of talking to a couple of Blizzard guys about all the crazy theories people had about how to get specific loot to drop. They were basically trying to figure out rules that didn't exist, as it was all random. As is DayZ loot. We humans have a tendency to see patterns everywhere, but that doesn't mean that those patterns actually exist.

I found 3 helicopters within 800m of each other on one server (EU), and then spent 4 hours unable to find even one on another (DE). That does not mean that the spawns are more or less prevalent on any server. They all run the same mission file, hence there can not be variations in loot outside of simple RNG flukes.

It makes bad luck streaks a lot easier to stomach if you decide it's the server though. I went through 6 supermarkets, 4 churches, 3 barns and a good dozen wooden huts without finding any compass, watch or weapons at all on my current life. Was it fun? No. But it was random.
