About Abbot

  1. The forest is too empty. This isn't bad, but imagine wandering through the woods for two hours, and something catches your eye. At first you figure it's just a log, but, something's off. You creep closer, and now you're starting to see a man, sitting on the ground, with his back on a tree and a hole in his head, a shotgun by his side. What caused him to trek out into the woods and do this? Was he just simply tired of running, only to find more death? Maybe he thought he was infected, or caught a different disease and knew death was inevitable. You see his twelve gauge, it looks slightly more appealing that your current pea shooter. Is this weapon cursed? Should you even consider picking it up? Food for thought. I saw a log last night, it looked a lot like what I described from a distance. That's where I got the idea. More depresso for your cup.

    Vehicle rarity/respawn?

they're out there still, basically, the newer the server the better your chances. not every server has had all their vehicles hoarded, i've found a couple off road pick up trucks, multiple atvs, etc. since i just run solo now i have a few different servers i play on and i just hop from server to server, depending what i have stashed where. just be patient, you'll find something somewhere. there's vehicle spawns that aren't listed on any maps or the wiki, too, so just keep your eyes peeled. people abandon bikes pretty frequently at least.

    Seattle 108 problems?

Dunno, but I think the reason vehicles are so easy to find there is because it's being constantly restarted. I think it's only up when the admin wants to play, but I don't know that for certain. It's pretty annoying, I set up a tent there and loaded it with stuff, then it's been a pain because of my schedule to get back on the server and take it down. It's going to drop soon.
  4. a lot of loot you find is loot that's been picked over by players, hence shittier piles. and often when you hit up a spot that has 0 loot, that means loot has not spawned there in a long long time. the server deletes items that have not been picked up in a while, and when you go there it takes a while of you being away from the area for it to spawn fresh loot. whether a server is running beta or not's effect, well, loot is a dayz thing. there's no loot spawn in arma ii, which is what the beta patches are for specifically. not ruling it out but, i don't think the beta patch has anything whatsoever to do with loot

Turn up those min system specs

hmm, something seems off here. you should be getting better fps, and i don't think windows 7 is solely to blame

    Glocks.

not sure, but a 1911 or a revolver doesn't take many shots, 2 or 3?
  7. Date/Time: 5:30am PST and 6:00am PST What happened: A pair of night vision goggles were placed into my alice pack. When I opened my bag, they were not there. Later, a blood bag was placed in my backpack, and when I opened my backpack it was not there. Where you were: Outside of the Devils Castle entrance, and inside the Fire Station at Northwest Airfield's stairwell on the bottom floor What you were doing: Crouching, or standing *Current installed version: 1.7.1.4 *Server(s) you were on: LU1 *Timeline of events before/after error: Really I can't remember anything related prior to this happening. I had just extinguished a flare and my friend tried to put the NVGs in my pack. Then the second time I had just bandaged my friend right before he put the blood bag in my pack. I had some issues right before that where when I had logged off, my backpack's inventory was reverted to it's state 10-15 minutes prior.

[Report] Spawned in Wilderness/Debug Forest/Endless Ocean

Today I spawned in the field, ran east for about 20-30 minutes and the server reset. I rejoined and I'm pretty sure it warps ya back to the beginning of debug land when you do. So I went SE this time, I just looked and saw that the area before me looked entirely flat, didn't see many hills in that direction, and eventually I saw trees and got out. I got out probably halfway between Kamenka and NWAF.

Very happy to see this is back. I forgot though, what do the numbers mean in the inventory slots?

    Disconnecting to avoid death

this. uo did it great. it was like 5 or 10 minutes where you stayed logged in if you didn't use a bedroll and make a fire to log out, and the process for setting up a safe camp was about 20 seconds. totally should add bedrolls, or use tents for this purpose.
  14. Hey, I've just seen several people complain about people who log off mid combat or when they spot someone and it seems like to me that it really breaks the experience when you can just hit escape to run away from danger. So, I was thinking maybe a 5 minute time that your character would stay in game after you log. A way that could speed this process up would be logging out in a tent or adding a new item like a bedroll to log out in. The bedroll would require 15-30 seconds to set up before you could safely log out. And if anyone notices, yes I am stealing this idea from UO.
