4-6 fps

Ok so I just got Arma 2 because its on sale on steam and though it try this mod out but i can't seem to get anywhere above 6 fps and i've tried changes to the config file and tried various diffrent setting in game and it hasn't changed so i was wondering if anyone could explain or help me further.

 

 

Pc Spec:

 

Processor: AMD Athlon II X2 270 Processor (2 CPUs), ~3.4GHz

Ram: 8gb 

Gpu: AMD Radeon HD 7870

Your CPU is terrible man. I would recommend getting another one. Arma runs of your CPU more then anything in your computer.

My native screen resolution is 1920x1080 but i have tried putting it down to 1280x1040 and other resolutions and i have had no real diffrence just a one or two frames.

I do have a feeling that my cpu is just bottlenecking my gpu but i am not sure thats the problem.

Do you have a better GPU than him then? His GPU is a tad better than my old GTX660 but the CPU benchmark is way below my i7 2600K so that may be the reason and of course expecting it to be able to run full HD isn't realistic. The CPU is as "out of date" as mine. I don't want to kick off a AMD vs. NVidia flamewar but having used the older model AMD CPUs i must say from my experience they were always a step behind although they are a good product in the value for money department.

Nope, I'm using a HD 5770.

I don't know my frames, but they are certainly higher than 4-6.

I just managed to crank it up to ten and yea im probably just going to order the amd 8 core cpu fx8350 or what ever it is.

i just have a normal laptop and arma 2 runs awesome, dayz is not too laggy eather. around 20 fps or so. turn both arma 2 and dayz settings right down. disable many things. Find a better server with better fps.
