Spunkey Doodle 25 Posted June 23, 2014 If anyone needs a vanilla server: 66.150.121.18:2302 / US 1252 . Just not many people on it so I thought I would post here.

agentneo 337 Posted June 25, 2014 Do vanilla day z mod zombies now hit while running? All of these i have tried the zombies seem crazy, they hit me constantly while im sprinting from like 20m away, my character is just loosing health but not bleeding. kichilron 8550 Posted June 25, 2014 The Zombie Attack Range wasn't perfect with 1.8.1, but a lot of that has changed with the new patch.
agentneo 337 Posted June 25, 2014 cool just the actual hit while their moving , i know they can't do that in epoch or origins, but they seem to do it here on vanilla. I was running through elektro didnt stop once and multiple zombies hit me, some in the back, somewhen i crossed a road etc. I dont mind this, it makes them more of a threat, just didnt expect it so will adjust my playstyle. and I look forward to 1.8.2. kichilron 8550 Posted June 25, 2014 It wasn't quite perfect the way it was in 1.8.1 with the range and attackanimation, admittedly.
Borges (DayZ) 40 Posted June 26, 2014 Dayz vanilla player base is currently dead. I'll probably just quit vanilla if it does not restore after 1.8.2.
Minibjorn 6 Posted June 30, 2014 (edited) It's not dead... zerosurvival has 30+ people on at almost all times, UK410 fluxes a bit but has good people on it and US 3480 seems to be picking up again... so stop being a doomcryer. The main issue, as I see it, is that DayZ Commander only runs up to beta patch 112555... and with the whole GameSpy issue. We need a 3rd party program that'll run a server list with the new beta patches, and it'll help a lot. The ingame server browser sucks... How the hell do you join US 3480 these days, can't see it anywhere. Edited June 30, 2014 by Minibjorn
BC_Hawke 276 Posted June 30, 2014 (edited) 3480 is only accessible now through a Steam installed DayZ mod exe it seems. Update via Steam (don't worry if you install the obsolete A2OA you can roll back to older beta patches to join servers on older patches) and launch the game from steam. Search for 3480 using the in-game browser or connect directly with this IP: 162.248.89.129:27016 Edited June 30, 2014 by Bullet_Catcher

Talk about missing the boat! sounds like it was a truly great vanilla dayz server. Anyway, if any of you come across me on the vanilla servers, I am one of the good guys. This is true, but unrelated to the issue at hand, as it is not shutting down because of lack of support or a playerbase, but because the admin no longer has the time and drive to run the server. And it's still up for another month... untill July 1st. Borges was saying that the playerbase was dead(gone), my aim was to prove that was not true... which it is not, and that he was infact talking BS. 3480 is only accessible now through a Steam installed DayZ mod exe it seems. munkie 40 Posted July 1, 2014 (edited) When you use the word 'Vanilla' are you referring to 'Public Hive' or just a plain Dayz Mod server? UK410 is a Public Hive, Zero modifications server, i don't think it should be confused with a 'Private Hive' server. dM Edited July 1, 2014 by Drunkie

Jock McScottish 216 Posted July 1, 2014 This is true... a brain fart on my part. what I thought was poignant about the end of dayzsurvival.net was the outpouring of grief at the end of the seaweed guy protecting them, much like when sherriff Rick Grimes could protect his 'flock' from the outside world no longer on the walking dead.. I am just pissed off that I never discovered this server until it was too late...
Borges (DayZ) 40 Posted July 2, 2014 (edited) Zerosurvival and UK410 are not up to date, so no I don't want to play on those. UK410 is UK, which means high ping for me, no thanks. I'd rather just wait until US3480 gains player base again, which is currently dead. It used to be the most popular server, 50+/60 players for a majority of the day. US3480 runs from steam's arma 2 Dayz mod client now, so any other server you play on which is outdated will not save over to US3480, so I think they were wiped (my character is geared on US434 up north, but on the coast in US3480). Also arma 2 Dayz client seems to be updating itself to higher versions than 124879 so eventually these other servers will fall behind. So I got 1.8.1 running on dayzcommander, but theres an updated patch out that you can only access through steam? And only on certain servers? I like the sound of it, but to be honest Im struggling to get to grips with how to play the latest version, and what servers to play it on. And there are probably a good few like me! kichilron 8550 Posted July 2, 2014 You can't use DayZCommander at the moment and I don't know if he's planning on changing that. But the only way to update these days is to use Steam.

Update Arma 2 OA in steam if it isn't updated, and enable "Beta -" in the beta tab. Now run "Arma 2: Dayz Mod" from steam, and you should be good to go. Multiplayer has dayz servers in it, or you can connect remotely. This is how to play on servers running 124879. You can still play on servers running lower versions (112555) by launching directly from dayz commander instead. Edited July 3, 2014 by Borges

Milk Man 1 Posted August 24, 2014 I've been following this thread for a while and wanted to contribute that I've recently started playing on a reliable DayZ Vanilla server called Haunted Survival Campground: 162.209.73.158:2302 Low population, but the server is reliable, US based, and offers a great opportunity to get established before more players come in. You'll need to launch DayZ Mod from steam and access the server from the multiplayer menu -- although you might have some luck with DayZ Commander.
