Those 100 player servers...

I just logged on and I saw at the top 100/100 servers, are those even playable?

I mean it's minor lag at 40 players, how will it do when it's 100 players?

Dunno, cant get to one, still full. Still its gonna be pain to play there, everything will be looted clean and you will starve or will have endless fist fights with freshies.

 

Was on experimental 40 player, there was some nasty desync :-(.

100 player servers played fine.  Don't know what lag issue you're talking on about 40 player servers either as there hasn't been any issues for months except the desync which they hot fixed

I've been able to slip into months back. I came across no one. Just a lot of bodies/cloths on the ground

so I was on an 80/80 server this morning and it ran just fine if not better than the 40/40 servers from yesterday. the 100/100 servers run pings just a lil higher than I like so I skipped em in favor of the 80/80 with less than 100 ping.

It all just depends on what the server hardware is and if you're computer can take that many connected clients.

If you read the development blog they mentioned something about that:

 

Guaranteed Updates

As previously mentioned we want to move from the current situation where the client and server “spam” messages at each other, hoping that some of the messages get through. Because they can’t be sure, the updates have to be sent again and again. This is believed to be the major restriction from breaking the 100 player limit. We anticipate this will be appearing on experimental servers next week, and then onward into the update for this month.

I've not played experimental, but I'm excited by the prospect of 100-player servers making it to stable branch - whenever that may be.

 

With 30 or 40 people in Chernarus, it's much, much too easy to gear up. There is loot everywhere. There is no threat of starvation. There are guns everywhere. You have ammo coming out of your ears. There are pristine red woolen coats lying about in tin sheds (how did that get there?).

 

And if you move inland, you never meet a soul, and you have large, high-loot towns to pick over all to yourself. More players per server please. Yes.

It runs smoother with 100 people on experimental than with 40 on stable atm.

Also I have to loot a whole town just to get one guy armed and supplied with ammo usually. Loot is so abundant because we can serverhop and have frequent restarts. Also, starving shouldn't be a real threat, and it will never be when you can hunt animals and gather crops.

The increased player slots is just for experimental not stable, as they do this for testing purposes..

I know it is, at the moment. But it's got to be the goal, surely, to increase player capacity on all servers in the long run? Otherwise why would it even be in experimental?

Well, yes the player increase is to be implemented to stable, but not anytime soon for us.
