But it is still in , I thought they said they were going to remove it.

Even as useless as you might think it is , it is still useful for aiming upclose.

Because certain elements of the player base will throw the dummy out of the pram if it gets removed.

Personally, I'd use it as a chance to identify them and march them all off to the guillotine, but I believe bohemia are too nice for crimes against humanity.

For whenever you need to pick up items on the ground that can't be accessible by using TAB i.e, items on to of closets.

This is one the reasons i'm iffy that they're removing it. It's gonna be a royal pain to manipulate objects.

You don't need a crosshair for that simply aim towards the center of the screen.

also don't they sort of have to remove the crosshair if they are going to do free aim ?

I would imagine the crosshair would make you sick moving all over the screen once free aim is in.

Hmm, I'd imagine it to get quite hard, considering that you have to aim 'exactly' where the certain item is, this can be extremely annoying if it's a can opener or something else that's small.

By the way, what do they mean by adding 'free aim'? And what is it exactly? Totally missed out on that.

well i would say the dot is quite useful when it comes to looting or melee. not so much with firearms/ranged weapons.

Another simple solution is to turn on the crosshair when nothing is in your hands.

That would work.

Also free aim is the aiming method they are going to add soon it sorta simulates how holding a gun is in your arms while it is not locked in to where you look.

see how the gun moves around even if the camera doesn't thats free aim.

Has lots of benefits including one of making heavier weapons take longer to move around and lighter faster weapons such as smgs faster to maneuver.

Yeah, this seems a good balance without taking it out entirely.

I understand why you might be iffy, but that's thinking about the problem backwards. Instead of wondering how we're going to pinpoint objects without the crosshair we should be asking the devs what they are going to do to fix interacting with objects.

Yea the dot is usefull for picking up stuff, I never use it to actually aim.. got my scopes/attachments for that.

But yea they could remove the dot as soon as you take hold of a weapon and just show it visible when you got nothing in your hands.. that would work indeed.

here is how it looks when playing the game.

With the slower pace of dayz it could be really amazing.

Notice how it makes even 100m shots require some skill . Nothing is more satisfying than hitting someone at 400m + with irons while they run in red orchestra 2.

Free aim is fantastic.

Ah, yeah I've played Rising Storm!

I agree, that would be kind of hard with the crosshair, I assume the crosshair disappears when free aim gets added, and they find a solution for my worries as well.

Can't say it's ever bothered me enough to start a thread about it...

True, that. Object interaction is at the moment is annoying to say the least..

Isn't free aim already in the game (floatingZoneArea=x)? it just doesn't have a menu option? unless aiming deadzone correlates to that option.

I have it set to .17 and it seems to work exactly the same as in the video.

They just said they were going to remove it, like, within a few weeks ago they said it (if that).

I've tested it while using a Mosin. It's actually surprisingly accurate once you get used to the fact that the reticle isn't 100% centered. It's a ghetto PU Scope.

Not for me. It's actually pretty useful if you only play in third person. I wouldn't miss it though.

I like the crosshair in ARMA 3. You can't use it with precision and it's relatively unobtrusive.
