Lets share our scariest experiences in DayZ

My scariest is- when I was playing when it was night IRL and I had no light in my room. It happened to be a night server too. I was looting the shipwreck. When I entered a room with some beds (everything was dark) a fucking freshspawn jumped on me with a freaking axe. My heart went to 600bpm and I unloaded a 60rd. STANAG mag at his face. The jumpscare I had was so loud that my dad woke up naked and he unplugged the internet.

I've had plenty of lesser scary moments involving a zombie that I thought was another random player (especially since 0.42). Those are all too common anymore, and they particularly scare you when you're somewhere that wouldn't usually have other players.

Scariest shit ive had to me is when i was looting NWAF for goodies in the barravks when a player logged in behind me while i was prone, checking under the beds. My heart banged so hard it hurt my chest while i pushed my primary wep-button way too hard and way too fast. When i finally got it out, i had already pushed it once too many, and took my m4 on my back again. In full panic i managed to leave the room and standing in the hallway seeing a third person throug the window. He sees me and runs toward the entrance while i got into another room. The logged in dude jumps out in the hallway getting shot 3-4 times and dies at once. The third man now entered the barracks starting to loot the dead guy. I went out in the hallway pumping 20 rounds right to his chest.

Thought alot about this, was also my first character, so my nerves was extra tense back then.

Looting arc tower and someone shot my leg but I managed to crawl back in without gettin hit a second time. There I waited 20 minutes with my sks pointing towards the door but nobody came in.. my heart was pounding like **** but that was some time ago, by now I wouldn't take the chance standing a second still on top of arc tower because now I know that's a very bad spot to be..

Scariest moment in DayZ for me was my very first life. I was just learning the mechanics of the game; I had a decent amount of food so starving and getting sick were already very unlikely. I felt like i OWNED this game even found a fire axe and an SKS. I was on top of the Zombie Apocolypse...or so i thought. I was wandering around and found a city i now know to be electro. I came into the city believing no one could stop me. That's when i saw the two guys with TWO weapons aimed at me. One of yhem screamed "STOP YOUR UNDER ARREST!" My heart sank. I knew i was going to die if i did what they said. So as they were running towards me handcuffs in hand. I took off full sprint trying to get away from the men trying to capture me. For a moment i thought i got away. And thats when i heard the rush of bullets and then the YOUR DEAD screne.

Yes. Everytime I spawn when my character reloads its M4 I get a heart attack.

Back on topic, my most scary experience in DayZ was when I kept hearing zombie noises for like 30+ mins while traveling to the NWAF...only to find out it was a stupid fudging rabbit....damn thing nearly gave me a funeral.

Back when playing some mod (Overwatch, I think? Or maybe BP?) I was in a bush SW of Stary. It was dusk and quickly turning to night. I was fully geared.

 

But I heard rustling in the little hedgerow in front of me. I had also heard some sniper fire really close to me. So I went prone for about an hour searching through these bushes trying to find someone.

 

For all I knew, could've been a whole squad camped up in there.

 

Never found anything. But was scary as shit proning through the bushes thinking I'd stumble upon someone.

Ok, got my little joke out of the way.  Well, there hasn't been too much that actually scares me but I do occasionally like to smoke the ganja which really makes playing DayZ pretty intense.  And no, I'm not promoting smoking weed.  Anyway, just the ambient noises going on around me are enough to make me paranoid even entering a small town.  I got lost and turned around one day and ended up back at Electro where a firefight was going on.  I literally froze on the spot, to paranoid to move and I just sat there for about 30-45 minutes scanning the city just seeing if anyone was coming my way.

I used to smoke pot, I'd probably think that this game would probably be better when stoned, haha! Just sitting there on top of a hill in scope watching the whole place for an hour and then thinking shit, I've done fuck all.

My moment was at NEAF. I had an axe and the military backpack(30 slot) with all I ever needed on me (bandages sticks can opener food canteen rags etc).

I run into the building, keeping mind it's a low population server, maybe 5 people on it atm, and as I walk in to the control tower a guy comes down the stairs swinging his fireaxe. He just missed and I back off saying "Whoah friendly!"

He is super cautious and says he doesn't want to fight he just wants to live and move along. Being eager to trade materials with someone for once, I convince him it's worth his time. We become friendly and he gives me a syringe, I give him a compass. As were about to take turns testing blood types, I hear him yell "oOO Sshiii---!!!"

Someone coming from behind me lights him up with a m4 and starts spraying wildly at me. I see this kid drop and I run into the control tower yelling "oh WTF!" I get into a corner and,cowardly, disconnect.

In hindsight, I should have stayed in,but this was the first time a good interaction happened, and it ended so tragically. I assume The kid was targeted first because he had the mosin on his back; This kid just wanted to be left alone and I convinced to interact. He
