Jex 1104 Posted April 11, 2014 They are going to add steam achievments for longevity of life - I think they need to add a leader board, aimed at surviving only (no PVP shit), such as How many days alive (this is calculated on actual game time played which is easily taken from steam. How many miles walked (I said miles dammit not kilometers - they're for girls ;))Most killed player (A bit of reverse psychology?)Most friends made whilst play DayZ (as in people you added whilst you were playing DayZ, so people you met in game - this also gives another reason to be friendly) What Achievements do you think should be added and how should they be viewed? Rocket said the data would be published so people can make their own websites but shouldn't it be accessed from a common area such as Steam where everyone can see it? Snowball (DayZ) 115 Posted April 11, 2014 (edited) How many miles walked (I said miles dammit not kilometers - they're for girls ;)) Other than that some good suggestions...But I think they'd rather put the achievements like: "10 killed players" "100 killed players" & then some stupid name for it :P Oh, and I don't think "Friends made in DayZ" is gonna be very popular lol Edited April 11, 2014 by Snowball

alsmir 255 Posted April 11, 2014 I don't want achievements. Kinda sad tbh: give people freedom and they are lost.
krankyouri 1 Posted April 11, 2014 Nah achievements are silly.
Jex 1104 Posted April 11, 2014 (edited) Knowing how long I've lived for me is something I want to be able to see. The challenge of DayZ is to survive, that is the game and the challenge is greater when you have to engage other players or go into risky areas. Surviving is the key point of the game and should be marketed along these lines. With that in mind it needs to be done correctly so it stops people logging in out in the middle of nowhere and just leaving their character there (and no, making zeds appear around them or walk towards them is the worst possible solution (like they had in the mod)). You could make it that if you haven't moved your spot in over an hour it stops recording your time alive until you move again. As for other achievements in a game with no end to it, having things to aim for is fun for some people or a leaderboard to compete against. Who's at the top of the survival list and still alive? Why not try and hunt them down and end their longevity. If you add in a lot of little things to do or aim for, it adds more depth to a game and as DayZ really has no end game, it's the depth of play that will important in the end. Shallow games don't have very long shelf lives. Edited April 11, 2014 by Jexter
Survivor_Ted 269 Posted April 11, 2014 (edited) Other than that some good suggestions...But I think they'd rather put the achievements like: "10 killed players" "100 killed players" & then some stupid name for it :P Oh, and I don't think "Friends made in DayZ" is gonna be very popular lol I definitely don't want achievemnts that tracks players killed, and I doubt they would add those as they want to decrease KOS. Achievements overall is going to be quite tricky for the game, but I can imagine there to be something similar to these: Miles walked, Time alive, first base, first vehicle, and maybe some joking once i.e killing a zombie with a can of beans.
