Remove Zombies until they're fixed.

Recommended Posts

It like lets say you are playing a shooter beta, but every time you pull out your pistol you die instantly. Remove sidearms, fix them and re implement them, no "

its not just that it doesnt make sense, its also a ridiculous over simplification, but whatever... thread should be locked as redundant or merged with the sticky

First, we had sufficient zombie testing by now. Second:

You JUST do not want to get it. Okay now very.slowly.

It does NOT matter, what you do, the zombies see you REGARDLESS. IF you lay prone, doing nothing, in the Mod zombies will NOT come after you. However if you do the same in SA, they WILL come after you. He can't snipe people because he is busy axing down zombies, tell me how that is HARD and not plainly ANNOYING.

We aren't even talking about "firing the dinnerbell". My sniper could not fire since he was busy with endless streams of zombies. If he would have shot, we would atleast have a reason to trigger them, but there was no reason.

If the zombies in SA behaved like in the Mod, I wouldn't even complain, don't you finally get that?

And we will clearly need MORE testing. Thats all there really is to it. Complaining gets us no where. And the zombies simply arent that bad xD.

They arent broken. You dont like it leave. This is alpha(yeah i said it). and no its nothing like that seeing as how the shooter beta game where you die from shooting is absolutely unplayable. This game is playable. The zombies spawning needs work and they shouldnt clip through walls. This will be fixed. You wanna know a vurtue? Patience.

Zombies do not need to be improved, they need to be completely redone. Cliping through walls is one of the many problems they have, the spawing, the attacks their sprinting and awareness. practically everything.

and for the record; I left a while back just jumped in to see the progress.

Perhaps that explains why you are not aware that the current zombies are actually basically placeholders. It is no secret, they will be completely redone. I just interfer in these threads when people complain about things these placeholders do, like interfering with snipers, players generally firing of guns, deathmatching in high risk areas and looting, which the end product zombies most assuredly will as well (Yeah, and also when people complain that they are too hard to deal with at the moment).

Exactly, they are placeholders. So what is the harm in removing them for the time being? Are we testing placeholders?

No, we are (among other things) testing the result of what these placeholders do. As I tried to state in my post, the current zombies most likely achieve some of the same ends that the end product zombies will achieve. Only the current zombies are achieving it with artificial means, while the end product zombies should be achieving it with proper means.

Do you know why you have such a strong opinion about the zombies? BECAUSE THEY ARE IN THE GAME AND YOU ARE TESTING IT!!

Bohemia is working on improving them, keep in mind that this patch introduced respawning zombies, FOR THE FIRST TIME. And it was successful they respawn! Now they can tweak and adjust to get the desired effect.

Even if its not in the next patch or the one after that, it'll come in due time.

I mean are you really that bone headed that you think they have the perfect zombies waiting to go live and they already fixed the bugs but arent telling us.. cmon they are a work in progress GET IT?!?!

What do you mean they aren't that bad?  The zombies are terrible.  They just sort of stand there motionless until you come within a mile.  Then they charge right at you and you can't out run them since they will clip through walls and floors.  But fortunately they are so weak they can't injure you.  I get that they are WIP placeholders, but what are we testing?  We already know they suck.

At least in the Mod there was a sense that you had to sneak around them.  And it was sort of scary when they agroed and came at you by the dozen.  I miss the good old days of watching people get trapped by 20 zombies in an ATC tower or warehouse.

I hate to keep this topic alive, but I think it's funny that people find the Z's so difficult in the standalone. They're vanilla compared to the Z's in the mod....seriously. Way more Z's in the mod, and they can climb ladders..CLIMB.

Oh, come on guy! Where's the fun in running around and just collecting food and drinking from fountains? Live a little!

You missed the point.  They are so glitched that it breaks the game.  Just last night I was looting the ATC at the NE airstrip and when I was walking down the stairs to exit a quiet zombie was comlpetely inside the staircase hidden from me and i was bleeding.    Somehow, this set off other clipping ass zombies that ghosted in walls before i could exit and fight em on the open.  Its a fucking game breaker, before the patch, the embarassing shittyness of their zombies was far less noticeable.    How is it that the laughable brokenness of zombies only concerns a few people?

I underlined the parts of your post that suggested you have very little actual interaction with zombies in the game. You can easily outrun them. With nothing in your hands your speed is much higher than the zombies. Their damage has been severely buffed. There are reports of them killing players in one strike, most likely a lucky hit to the head or to players who doesn't have full health, but still they do deal considerable damage, and most players have experienced ruined clothing (and objects carried in that piece of clothing) as well as bleeding from single zombie hits.

And you can still watch people get trapped by zombies if they choose to fire a gun in a high zombie populated area.

The sneaking part is indeed still missing and is to be implemented at a later stage. However there is still various degrees of stealth play currently. There is a big difference whether you choose to fire a gun or use your melee weapon in a high populated area. I advise you do the latter, or else you will likely find yourself "trapped by 20 zombies in the ATC tower or warhouse" or anywhere else for that matter.

Edit: Changed "highlighted" to "underlined" since bold didn't seem to be working in quotes.

Yeah, I mean stealth is non-existent.

Not choosing to fire doesn't constitute stealth. Or rather, it shouldn't constitute the only option.

As of now, there are two options. Shoot/hack the zombie. Or run away. There's no third way of navigating around zombies without being seen/heard.

O.o, fine I understand why they cannot simply remove them, but why the hell buff them?

It's called testing.  Companies do this sort of thing when they have their game in an "alpha" state  <_<

Exactly this. We are helping to develop a game here, not play the finished article. Some aspects of the zombies can only be effectively tested by the community (there are far more of us than the devs, so evaluation is greatly speeded up this way). They receive feedback from our findings and work on fixing issues/improving things but the more testing we do, the faster things can move along. I have no doubt that the zombie respawn issue will be fixed soon, but in the meantime we have to continue to put up with it, it's not game breaking and just requires a little forward thinking before using firearms.

Rocket said at that rezzed thing that the new team they have has been working on the navmesh and is closer than he expected to delivering. Cant believe there are still threads about the zombies clipping when its so obviously an issue the devs are working on :)

My bad for the misunderstanding. I've had my fair share of zombies attacking me from the ground, and walking up into a house with a zombie halfway through the floor. It is frustrating, but as assholeish as this may sound, adapt and survive! But, really, I'm sure it will be fixed soon. I have hope.
