Than really Dean needs to stick with one or the other.

Why? I am not that posh that I have to discuss semantics in the Zombie Apocalypse.

The backstory is very similar to 28 Days Later. They are infected people, which is why they die by bodyshots but do not suffer from shock damage. Basically, its the more 'realistic' approach to zombies.

Than really Dean needs to stick with one or the other. And ppl need to go by that. Because confusing the player base is not a good thing even with an alpha. You have infected you stick with the word infected. If they are zombies like he says than i expect to see more decayed skin options.

Hello there

I too agree with kich, why MUST he? its an interchangeable term like Xerox and photocopy.

If you call this pristine you should change your daily routine.

If it upsets ppl to much to make things to pure black and white with ppl than maybe we shouldn't be discussing it on the forums. You screw with the lore to much and its not even what its supposed to be anymore. Do you understand what im getting at?

Its like everyone was calling Resident Evil 4s enemies zombies and they sure as hell were not zombies. They were to damn smart for that. Nor were they decayed to any extent or reanimated.

If you call this pristine you should change your daily routine.

Thats an EXTREMELY tame model.

Its horrifying yes but its still really tame.

I personally don't think it is tame at all. After all I don't want to feel the strong urge to throw up when playing a game. I want to enjoy it to some extent.

And the word Zombies is just what's happening in your head, as it's not scientific in any way, shape or form after all. It's all what's being dictated by companies, hollywood and games. If you agree with that or not is a different question, but there's no definition of what a Zombie is supposed and what isn't.

The reason I ask and created this poll is because I've seen a lot of complaining about the AI not being able to do what they are doing as in sprinting and jumping because the "dead" shouldn't and can't do that.  Yet, when I've pointed out in the so called feedback thread that they are not undead I get flamed for being an idiot

I guess it depends on a lot of things ie how they were reanimated, how long since death and subsequent animation, what is powering them etc. All of these things are open for discussion and because of that I don't think being undead can be ruled out. They're certainly not following the classic undead rules but rules are there to be broken. Ignore people who flame you as they don't consider all the possibilities of what is biting/stomping them.

ie. Infection is an easy one - requiring no rationalization, only information as to the specific nature of the infection. Reanimation is more difficult to imagine, assuming the brain and body was restarted after death then electrical activity could have recommenced. The body is dead however, so does this mean the heart is beating or not? If electrical activity has restarted then it could be, allowing the body to continue working as before albeit deteriorating over time. These zombies could appear to be infected. This is the tip of the iceberg....

Well this comes back to the whole REALISM with zombies or as you like to call them infected. If your dont feel like throwing up than there doing something wrong. Yes there is an extent as to how bad they should look maybe if this were a child or Teen rated game but were talking about an mature rated title.

Im veering off topic slightly but yeah if you arnt sick to your stomach then they are not horrifying enough lol. This is a horror game and not just a survival one after all.

Although i DO enjoy the work in the survival aspect of the game. Im just not terrified by there appearance enough. And them running faster or being able to climb ladders or whatever doesn't really scare me.

Infected living (as confirmed). I think it's the more "plausible" approach than the living dead - as taken by 28 days later and last of us (difference causes of course). I feel as though this makes the damage system and speed make a bit more sense too.

Where is the choice for "glitched and fucking broken" ?

In one of your several rant threads.

That certainly is an interesting way to think about it.

The lore says they are infected humans but people refer to them as zombies because it's easier. Zombies bite, dayz zombies hit

I call them as zombies, zeds, bastards and whatever comes in my mind when I hate them.

Btw did you know that in Nepal zombies are spirits of violently died people that haunts living.

I have understand that in game we have infected people no matter how we call them.

I just wonder could that cause of infection (whatever it is like virus, bacteria or maybe even little bug in brains) evolve so

that it doesnt spread at same way as it did in day zero and evolve so fast that remained survivors start losing their immunity

to it.

Question.

Where is ground zero for day zero, is it in chernarus I dont know?

I have to agree here:

I personally don't see a difference in calling them either infected or zombie as there was a "disease" and it caused "death." It's obvious that the corpses (ie, the dead) reanimate somehow because we see them moving about everytime we log in. In short, the criteria for calling them both infected and zombie have been met. Neither is wrong...

Crap. Basically. I don't think we'll ever see true Zombies/Infected in Dayz, they just seem too broken beyond repair.

From one of the files in the mod

A USECFORCE PRODUCTION

On 12 March 2013, a prion disease and spreads among the worlds population triggering a global pandemic
The disease causes proteins in the brain to be replaced with prions ceasing regular function
Most people progress to dementia and then death as the brain is replaced with ineffective sludge
86% of the worlds population die
Some survive with the disease in a chronic state.
Lacking regular brain function, they are scarely human. They are unable to communicate,
driven by insatiable desire for violence, and attracted to the scent of those uninfected
Society crumbles as the pandemic spreads rapidly
You are one of the 2% who are not infected yet
