sav112g 114 Posted April 9, 2014 If only the ballistics were remotely realistic. I’ve never played only watched DayZ on twitch but more and more I see players feeling the guns are not right mostly taking shots expecting to hit and miss. Forget fires and lovely add on stuff if the guns are not realistic then it’s a huge blow to the game for me. I’d actually rethink if I wanted to play a game that comes over as false. I want realistic as it gets so if I kill or even get killed I can appreciate the skill needed.Making Guns more easy to use just kills games. Make it a high learning curve after all your ttying to create a survival game that depends on skill and not a shooter aimed at ten year olds.
irishroy 1347 Posted April 9, 2014 (edited) If only the ballistics were remotely realistic. Then the B95 would be closer to the Mosin, and not closer to the SKS, as it is right now. (Accuracy-wise)Then the M4's accuracy wouldn't be changed by the stock, but by the barrel length (and maybe supp.) Edited April 9, 2014 by irishroy
gibonez 3633 Posted April 9, 2014 If only the ballistics were remotely realistic. If that were true the mosin would be dramatically less accurate .

Make it a high learning curve after all your ttying to create a survival game that depends on skill and not a shooter aimed at ten year olds. You're possibly missing the point that this game is in very early stages of development. Things like this are rarely seen by the public, as they are in this games case. So what you see now is far from representative of what will be in the end. There is a "mod" of Arma 2 called Dayz. It has several different versions. The Standalone is basically the new version. But there is an older version that people dubbed, "vanilla dayz". If you find that mod, or videos of it or really any other older videos, you will see how accurate the weapons actually should be later in the SA game. Its one of the most difficult learning curves in games to shoot (Arma/Dayz), but as of now its broken and needs further coding and tweaking before its where it used to be and where it can be if done even better. You just need to wrap that up in one word...Alpha..most people won't bother to read a wall of text anyway especially when the poster is right. Shots should be more difficult the further the target is especially if it is moving, i hope they add wind influence sooner than later then KoSing from afar would be greatly reduced or at least less successful. I've seen enough players missing 300m shots with standard issue rifles in ACE or at least get close enough with a 800m shot from a scoped rifle to call it a near miss. I helped a player with a .50 who tried to sniper targets between 900-1000m by pinning them down with a scoped M240 or is that a M240 sniper and made 12 out of 12 with the same rifle at 1500m another day simply by beeing patient...But gefore they even think of tweaking or adding more guns they should add some stuff you actually need in a survival situation such as tents, sleeping bags, camping tools or something like that. Atm it looks more like a weapon showcase with new guns arriving at each patch instead of stuff that belong to the survival part.
funyun 15 Posted April 9, 2014 If only the ballistics were remotely realistic. At this point, I am having trouble telling the difference between bad ballistics, and lag/desync problems, but they do seem 'off'.
weedmasta 784 Posted April 9, 2014 If only the ballistics were remotely realistic. I have no problems with the mosin hitting on target (in-game), so I don't know what you are on about.
sess130 50 Posted April 9, 2014 Honestly, everything in the game is a placeholder atm. I really believe that the guns/ballistics will be tweaked quite a bit before release. The mosin will probably be the base-tier sniper at some point and not be as accurate as it is now.
-Gews- 7443 Posted April 9, 2014 "Ballistics" usually refers to a few things... For example "a 139 grain bullet at 2690 ft/s propelled by 42.4 grains of BF powder with a maximum pressure of 40610 psi" refers to the internal and external ballistics of the French 7.5mm out of a MAS36... Or "a G7 ballistic coefficient of .368 and an initial velocity of 2723 ft/s with a maximum ballistic range of 5.7 kilometers" refers to the external ballistics of the Lapua's .338 loaded with the 300-grain Scenar. Or "penetration of 14.2 inches in calibrated ballistic gelatin with an expanded diameter of 0.71 inches and 98% weight retention" refers to the terminal ballistics of a .357 Magnum 125 grain jacketed soft point. A lot of people seem to be using it to describe the accuracy of the weapons which throws me off a bit.
Bororm 1156 Posted April 9, 2014 Too bad other players don't even render in without a scope past about half that distance. I miss going for long range shots with the enfield in the mod.
zeroy 240 Posted April 9, 2014 Done 800 yards in game with Zombies in like 2-3 shots, but with (moving) players I imagine this is hard.
weedmasta 784 Posted April 9, 2014 Remember it isn't yards in-game, it is meters.
