Can a Macbook pro run on Dayz Standalone?

Recommended Posts

To me, the fact stands that these specs are not good enough to have a satisfactory experience playing a modern game. That includes that I believe that 16gb on a 64 bit OS is pretty much bare bones a this point.

This is rubbish. It doesn't even make sense. "That includes that I believe that". It's just waffle.

It's just filler text. What includes that you etc? You're arguing that you're right because you believe you're right? I understand that DayZ is popular in Eastern Europe, and it's not fair to pick on people for their weak English. In fact it's pretty low. But life isn't fair, get used to it. The MBP's limiting factor will be the graphics card, and my hunch is that it won't be up to the task, and there's nothing much he can do about that; the relatively small monitor is going to pose a problem as well.

You know, I can remember when 2gb was plenty, but kids wanted to max out their hardware because kids want the biggest and the best! They're fundamentally insecure, and don't like it when people laugh at them. Kids are insecure because they're weak. They know it. Financially and socially. Weak. They're full of themselves, but they're weak. Physically small and they have no money. They're scared that people will point at them and laugh. Little sweat-stained balls of deodorant with quavery voices.

So 4gb became the new normal, but that hit the 32-bit limit, and then a 64-bit OS with 8gb was... well, that was just one larger, so that wasn't the biggest any more. That's where your 16gb figure comes from. it's arbitrary, plucked out of thin air. Because it's one larger than 8gb which is one larger than the minimum required to justify having a 64-bit OS.

But now everybody has 16gb and it's not enough any more. You want to be one larger than them. You're never going to admit that you've wasted money - I certainly wouldn't, and I'm older than you -so you start arguing that 32gb is the new entry level. Then 64gb - why not have 1gb per bit, eh? Two SSDs.

I've been using Windows since version two, which was the first to include actual moveable windows; it was a pale shadow of System 6 running on contemporary Macs. Fourteen years later my knowledge of ancient operating systems isn't relevant at all. And in answer to the original question, the two parties should push for a leaseback deal whereby sovereignty is transferred to Ukraine in exchange for Russia having a 99-year lease on the penisula. Putin would seem like the voice of reason, Ukraine would retain its territorial independence, and a lot can happen in 99 years. Problem solved!

Can you guys stop going back and forth and just help the guy out? He asked a specific question about a Windows computer and wants your advice, yet only 1 person responded. Geez.

I did respond about the Mac and then the Pedant Squad jumped in to prove who has the bigger tech dick.

I won't comment any further as only a "yes it will work great" is acceptable to some. Opinion still intact but no need to express it here.

(Also... Yes I prefer at least a modicum of reasonable language in internet posts, but to disassemble to that level is just stupid).

Good day.

Unfortunately, when the game is running, the OS and other items also need to run. 8GB of ram is just not enough for modern gaming.

I understand that dayz does not use all of the 8gb, and I understand that a 32 bit OS will only allow memory addresses for about 3.7GB of ram.

you really do not need anymore than 8GB of RAM to game on a PC/Mac. You must have too much running at one time while your playing bc 16gb Ram is overkill unless your doing video editing.

Exactly.  Too many people see the minimum specs and go, "Oh I have 4gigs of ram, not realizing that windows itself is using about 2 gigs of that, throw other background processes in the mix and you're left with nothing.

People in this thread have such butt-hurt, DayZ doesn't run on OS X, however, I never tried using the game exactly using software to run it, the specs aren't good on Macbook's older than 2012, however, they will run it if you dual boot it, on low settings. Macs have better software, but have worse hardware, but they run the hardware they do have, more efficiently, as I now work for a supplies company, I get to look at hardware all the time and buy it at stock price, can't wait for payday to buy a nice setup.

Running more efficiently? ffs...

Is this mac book pro with intel hd4000 or iris hd 5100? I've tried dayz on intel hd4000 with i7 laptop and on lowest settings possible, its not playable unless u can enjoy 10-20fps. the new one has hd5100 if were talking about the 13" here, as 15" has i7. I do not recommend as you will get around 20-30fps on the lowest possible settings and will give you alot of headache. Intel hd = nono

If you want to run dayz on mac book pro okish get the one with 750M discrete graphic card.
