darksteeljorge 96 Posted April 6, 2014 So as I was looking Chris Torchias tweeter I've seen this ; Chris Torchia @ctorchia Apr 4@Chaingunfight want to make a lever-action but I don't think it'll be a 1887. More likely something chambered in .357mag. You can chek it out here https://twitter.com/ctorchia Does that mean this rifle is going to be added? That be cool. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rQNE4c0F6L4 Tell me what you think :beans: :beans: :beans:(Positive feedback please, don't be a d*ck)

-Gews- 7443 Posted April 6, 2014 From mid-February... Meh, the .357 lever gun was of course bound to happen... given the desire to consolidate ammunition types, they wouldn't introduce that random Colt Python and then leave it as the sole .357 firearm in the game.
Katana67 2907 Posted April 6, 2014 (edited) I'm not sure how they plan on approaching the ammo rarity relationship to weapon rarity in the end. They seem to be limiting themselves unnecessarily to the common rounds, which doesn't make sense to me. Granted, you'll need the right ammo and the right magazines now. But it's sort of problematic having 7.62x51 being used by everything from hunting rifles, bolt-action sniper rifles, battle rifles/designated marksman rifles, and GPMGs. That's just an example. In the mod, yes you had linked ammo to magazines. So if you found one, you found both. But certain mags only spawned in certain areas. If 7.62x51 (again, an example) is able to be found in residential, industrial, and military buildings, one probably wouldn't have an issue re-arming his/her insert range of weapons here. I think consolidating ammo is a good move. Especially with the new magazine and ammo system in place. Will be great not seeing super obscure or strange calibers in the game although some should see the light of day.

I don't want to see things like: -6.8 SPC-.300 Blackout-.280 Remington-5.7x28mm-.45-70 I want to see things like: -5.45x39mm-7.62x25mm-7.62x54R-8x57mm IS-9x18mm ..357 Magnum itself is less suitable to DayZ than the 9x18mm which is used in a whole bunch of Eastern European weapons.

Lidskjalf 132 Posted April 6, 2014 Must have Hitlers buzzsaw if there are WW2 guns going in. Stahl helms would be freakin' sweet, I'd roll around in one of those instead of the military ones they have in game right now. On a side note, I think that these older weapons should be RARE as hell to find in pristine condition. Even the SKS should be in that rarity bracket.

All the calibers you listed are widely adopted military rounds and or popular hunting cartridges in eastern Europe. All of the rounds you listed in that category I would love to see. 9x18 is a given right since they are bound to add the makarov ?
Somestupidusername 6 Posted April 7, 2014 (edited) Makarov is a must. Need more ww2 rifles and smg's like ppsh tokarev etc. No more modern assault rifles with the exception of chopper crashsite spawns. Edited April 7, 2014 by Somestupidusername

I don't want to see them add any rare or exotic rounds... but I don't want them to leave out good cartridges and the firearms that use them for simplicity's sake. Different cartridges are interesting because they have each different ballistics and damage. Having a bunch of hunting rifles would be kinda boring if every one of them used 7.62 NATO. After they introduced the Walther in 9x19 some people think it is supposed to be the Makarov's replacement.

Why would ww2 rifles and smgs make it into an eastern european country in 2014 ? Only reason the mosin is in the game is because millions upon millions of them were made and you can still buy them by the crate for 100 dollars each. To top this off the 7.62x54r has been mass produced for a century+ making it readily available.

I still hope we see some modern day bolt actions in the game. Remington 700 in .308Savage hog hunter in .223Tikka T3 in .300 win magCz 527 in 7.62x39cz 557 in .30-06 The CZ and the Savage in particular are exciting choices because they have built in iron sights. The Remington or any other bolt action without iron sights I would imagine would have to spawn with a fixed power scope. I just hope when and if they do add more cartridges they actually do have accurate ballistics. I want to see a .308 be able to reach out to 1200m. I wana see a .300 win mag go out to a mile. I dont want to see these modern calibers set in a post-appocolyptic russia.. Also no maybe 12.7mm... There would be huge ballancing issues if you implement that caliber. Maybe more bolt actions? And maybe some chambered in .223 (5.56) <-- Love shooting them :D Edited April 7, 2014 by HiddenPuppy
Somestupidusername 6 Posted April 7, 2014 I don't see an issue about balancing 12.7 rifles since ofc you wouldn't find them from every corner. Chopper crash sites with really rare modern ar's and maybe a ksvk rifle? Please tell me if you agree or disagree.Mainly the weapons in the game should always be old weaponry as it is now and will be even after the ak's arrive.
