guppy22143 1081 Posted April 3, 2014 Alright, so there is only ONE thing that annoys me more than people calling Chernarus Russia. And that is people calling Elektro Electro. No idea why, but I HATE it. Here's why.It is Elektrozavodsk, not Electrozavodsk. It is Elektrozavodsk, Chernarus. Get it right, people! I have faith in you! Discuss.

But, I can see why people fail to spell it correctly....because most of them that do that are children. Too many kids on M+ games, and especially games that require a functional adult brain.
djporternz 644 Posted April 3, 2014 (edited) Actually, it's Электрозаводск!! Come on people, it's not that hard!! I also hate this. But, I can see why people fail to spell it correctly....because most of them that do that are children. Too many kids on M+ games, and especially games that require a functional adult brain. Anybody noticed that the SA has a provisional PEGI rating of 18, and that most of the players are well under that. captain_finnish 134 Posted April 3, 2014 I completely agree with you Guppy. I always spell it Elektro with 95% of the people spelling it "Electro" and it's annoying as hell.Who the fuck does that? In DayZ map it says Elektro, not Electro. So who is the person who does this unspeakable crime?

NinjaTurkey 255 Posted April 3, 2014 Sorry it just seems like such a small thing to be annoyed about. Its like being annoyed with people calling The united states, America.
pacific_coast 632 Posted April 3, 2014 when you know the map as well as a 3yr veteran player does... these things matter and can get to you breaks your own personal immersion this game encourages me to actively learn a new language, just to effectively play one of the better side effects of dayz
brutalwyrm 23 Posted April 3, 2014 I camp ELECTRO and kill BAMBIS with my decked out M4 that has 60 round CLIPS. dealwithit.
captain_finnish 134 Posted April 3, 2014 I camp ELECTRO and kill BAMBIS with my decked out M4 that has 60 round CLIPS. dealwithit. We deal with that. I like to hunt too but not so much fresh spawns. I prefer hunting more geared players. There is no challenge to murder lots of bambis, but if you kill somebody that has a gun, it is a lot harder. We once took out group of people that had guns and it felt so rewarding to see them in the ground while we Tbagged them.

Rick1633 136 Posted April 3, 2014 We can call it Electro because we can anglicize any word we want. English is the most widespread language in the world. For more than a hundred years, the sun never set on the English Empire, and in America, where we speak English, we invented the internet in the first place. We say Germany, not the native name, for example. We anglicize the fuck out of anything we want.
AshleyP 121 Posted April 3, 2014 Here's why.It is Elektrozavodsk, not Electrozavodsk. On a tangent, if you check out the real-world location on Google Maps, the first building you encounter when entering from the north-east has the name of the place written on the side:
IshFingers 26 Posted April 3, 2014 I regularly play with two guys fluent in Cryillic and I can only imagine them wincing every time they hear my piss-poor attempt at pronunciation at some of these names.Though I agree, the 'k' makes all the difference :).
