So I just got standalone

Recommended Posts

So I just got Standalone, I know ... I know... a bit late to the party, but to me there just wasn't anything added to it other then better graphics. I finally broke down and bought it SIMPLY to support Rocket and the alpha because I did love the mod. Combine this with the fact that my computer is awful and really, really can't run standalone and you can understand why I joined a low pop server for a few hours.

After a few hours of running around and learning the controls I came to the conclusion it feels just like DayZ mod beta / Alpha. It's interesting, lots of places to explore and completely full of bugs which reminds me a lot of DayZ.

Anyways enough of that, did some running around and ended up with a lot of equipment and actually had to kill someone because they.... wait... hold on. I killed someone.... i'm a hero, why did this happen?

It started off down on at Balotta with me running around gathering items and then leaving to go north because all the spawns were empty. I had decided to get to Zelenogorsk and maybe looked around. As I was traveling out of town I came across a guy running down the road. I quickly hopped back around the wall but knew he had seen me. I didn't want to shoot him, I didn't need gear and I didn't want to aggro zombies but you did something I was hoping you would not. You stopped and you pulled your rifle out and started turning towards me. WHY? WHY DID YOU DO THAT? I was looking at you with my weapon down, I had no intentions of shooting you but you had to stop and look at me.

I don't like killing people because there's no reason to do it. I kill because I am forced to, but if you stop and take a hostile action to me.... well... sorry.

So to the guy in Balota, west side of the compound running down the road... i'm sorry. You drew on me for no reason, I would have let you run by. Your name was MethN(something) and i'm absolutely broken hearted I had to shoot you. I left your equipment, you can go back and get it.

I'm a little bit more brutal in the SA than I was in the mod, too. I did let 3 noobs pass unharmed last night though, so I think my karma might be regenerating at this point.

Give it a week to get fixxed? Give it a week to get bored? Give it a week to find it fun? I've been rubberbanding all day, losing items that don't spawn when I swap them out (that bug cost me all my food once). I've heard hacking is pretty retarded and that duping is a serious issue right now? I know it's alpha but do you know something I don't?

Play and experience what you find interesting. The map, what guns you can find, ect.

Then come back every couple of months. That is the routine of Alpha. Or you could go half-nuts and hack, kill at random, do anything to appease your boredom and annoy other people trying to do the same.

That's generally the community I find as of current.

I remembered when I killed a few hundred more guys. Good times.

A. Give it a week to get fixxed

[B. Give it a week to get bored]

C. Give it a week to find it fun

To be honest, hacking is way low in SA or at least I haven't run into many. It's also not on the same scale as the mod. Game's just boring, is all.

So right now, every server is offline for me and nothing is showing up. Is this a normal thing? I click all the tabs, remove all filters... nothing shows up. Oh well, maybe tomorrow.

You should do a little more than look at a guy with your weapon down if you want a friendly response imo.  Did you wave or anything?  Try to talk to him?

I'm not blaming you for shooting him, but it sounds like you're blaming him for aiming at you.  You need to make more effort if you want friendly encounters and put yourself at risk, not expect other people to put themselves at risk.  Trust is a two way street, and you gotta make the effort too.

Also, you could have just ran away =P

I mean the choice is yours, but take responsibility for your actions, this is your choice to kill him, he didn't make you do anything.

1. Get away from the coast.

2. Don't log off in military buildings.

3. Don't drink disinfectant. I know its tempting, I know it taste good, I feed it to fresh spawns all the time and they love it, but its bad for you  ;).

4. Store yo' shit in boxes to save space.

5. Don't open the ammo boxes unless you need that ammo. Store it like that. Incase you get hit where you keep your ammo and it gets ruined, when you take it out its pristine ;).

6. Fresh spawns are evil.

7. Tac Bac is da shiznit dawg ;)

8. Don't use the mountain backpacks, people can see you from a mile away.

9. Explore. There is a lot of shit to see.

10. Zombies bite.

Agreed, but when he raised his weapon he sure as hell wasn't going to talk with it pointed at my face. It was already on his back and mine was lowered, the only reason he could have to pull it off his back was to engage me. Had he left the gun there, he wouldn't have been shot but he decided to draw down on me, I am not giving him the first shot, hero or not. Hero doesn't mean I let him get the first shot, it just means I won't attack you if you don't attack me and if you ask me for help I will.

And as for going around, that was kinda outside my choices. I had and have only one water bottle which was empty, I needed to get some water from Balota before moving north or I wasn't going very far so... yes I could have went an extremely round-about way to get there but I figured I would just wait quietly.
