Mosin VS M4

I am doing a video over the debate on whether the Mosin or the M4 is a better weapon, I will be presenting facts and opinions in it. (I will probably do a post of the video when done) if you would like to share your opinions answer the following questions!

 

Which do you find better and why? (If you find another gun to be better then tell me and answer these questions about it)

Which is more intimidating?

Which do you find more reliable and why?

What do you find as the advantage of your better (or both) gun(s)?

Not really the same gun man. If anything you should compare the SKS to the M4. The mosin is a 120-odd yr old bolt action rifle with  max capacity of 5 rds. The M4 is the Assault rifle of the last 50-odd years, with numerous attachments, mag capacities and so on and it did what it was designed to do when maintained. The only other thing that i really comparable is the SKS (as i stated earlier) which is a 70-odd year old Battle rifle with a pedigree of doing it's job well, no matter what, and was only outshone by the introduction of the Ak47 into military use at the time.

Mosin is better for murdering. M4 is better for self defense. Why? One is close range, one is long.

M4 is more versatile (with MP parts)

Mosin is more accurate at long range.

M4 is more efficient for killing zeds.

Mosin is probably better for killing players without ruining all of their gear (dat clean headshot).

Mosin has only "binoculars" in game currently.

M4 allows quick follow up shots.

I think it's really up to preference and what you can actually find in the game

The Mosin is technically better if you actually know how to aim with it although lately I've noticed that its sorta messed up with its damage as I had a headshot yet the person did not die twice which is ridiculous. Meanwhile the M4 range is messed up as it goes further  than 400m when set on 100m(maximum) This of which I hope will be fixed soon b/c it is unfair that the Mosin has massive bullet drop and the M4 has almost none for now.

Lol that is NOT true. I almost never use the mosin with any sights. Honestly the m4 is a pos compared, since the mosin has better accuracy, clearer ironsights, and is generally a one shot kill.

I've never seen a person in-game pick an m4 over a mosin.

In absolutely 0 instances should a mosin nagant be more desirable than a modern assault rifle.

 

This by itself tells you dayz is broke.

I choose the shotgun over just about any other primary. The SKS is only on my back at the moment because i'm giving it to a friend. I have rocked the SKS w/PU, sawn off, magnum load out for a while but i found it was just too many guns. I scale back to the sawn off (or full length if i'm not going to have to carry a rifle or want it to be a secret) and the magnum for my preferred load out. I have no use for a rifle because all my shootouts are in a building, short range outside or i'm fucked anyway because I can't see them (15 inch screen) so why have the extra weight?

 

Only reason i carry the magnum is because sometimes you need more than 2 shots per reload, it hits hard, finding mags for the pistols is a pain in the ass and i like revolvers. ETA: And sometimes you just don't have enough 12g buckshot.

Ah, but in DayZ there is no maintenance, every weapon is 100% reliable at all times, and every weapon and its magazines is equally durable. In addition there is no shortage of ammunition.

Mosin with both scopes and a shotgun is all I ever carry. Longer range, 1-2 shots, and the crack of the bullet riping off make it the more intimadating/superior weapon. Phew phew.

Have you introduced her to the sawn off? You should It has a respectable spread at Across-the-room range and great power to boot but is stilll accurate enough to get a quite a few pellets on target at around 25-30m.

 

Just don't expect her in the fight too soon after using both barrels at the same time (you end up looking at the sky).

Generally speaking I am poor on my gun maintenance I have an M&P pistol that I have never cleaned and it functions fine when I take it to the range.

 

But as to your point the mosin is just as susceptible to poor maintenance as the m4.

 

What is your point ?

 

m4 Maintenance is also not that hard and wouldnt be a problem. Still does not change the fact that in no situation would a person purposely choose a mosin or a sks over a m4.

 

The m4 is more accurate than both those guns, is flatter shooting, and is lighter.

 

Why the heck would anyone ever choose the mosin or the sks.

It heavily depends on your play style. I chose the SKS because it is in the middle ground of both and I'm waiting for the AKM to be implemented. :)

Mosin is simpler to operate. Doesn't apply to the game but I'm being argumentative. Oh ya, and you can't have your cake and eat it too (realism vs gameplay)

The MP M4 has the least dispersion in the game.

Actually the least dispersion is the Mosin with compensator (no dispersion at all).

I choose the mosin, with the m-4 I hit everything except what Im aiming at, mostly because its hard NOT to use the essentially infinite ammo you find for the m4.
