kihz 83 Posted March 26, 2014 If you have pictures of your inventory when you consider yourself "fully geared", post them. If not, just explain your best late game character you can imagine. I used to hate the M4. Now, I like it as long as I have an optic for it. The iron sites are just terrible IMO. I happen to be near fully geared (to me) right now, so I took some screen shots while in Electro on a full pop server. Just the norm, ya know? Containers: So, I have 356 rounds for the M4 with one 60 round MAG and 3 40's so I can reload quickly. The lose rounds are safe in ammo boxes (even though ruined ammo is repairable by splitting it). My secondary is the FNX that has 4 MAGs. One in the gun, 3 on standby. I normally have them spread throughout my inventory but for this demo, I put them all in the same. I have 184 rounds for it. My M4 has the red dot optics, MP handgaurd, bi-pod and the CQB stock. I could use some better attachments, but these will get the job done. I have a ton of food and drinks. Sticks for if I break my leg. Sewing kit for repairing (not needed, but nice sometimes), and the 1911 with no mag. I currently have it because I had the room when I grabbed it. I'm sure I'll ditch it soon, since the FNX is better and I have 4 mags for it. My first aid kit is the generic spawned one. I usually gut it and fill it with bandages, but haven't come across anymore so far. Haven't been checking clinics since they're usually looted.
DayZ_Friendly 145 Posted March 26, 2014 Where's your compass? Not fully geared until compass, can opener, and canteen.
kihz 83 Posted March 26, 2014 Where's your compass? Not fully geared until compass, can opener, and canteen. I ditched my canteen, as you can see by it in my hotbar. I don't think it's needed with the amount of wells and soda. I didn't find a compass yet, which is another reason I said "near fully geared".
DayZ_Friendly 145 Posted March 26, 2014 You're also not fully geared until you have "Energized", "Healthy", and "Hyrdrated" status. You're wasting inventory space.
hutchthefreaker 49 Posted March 26, 2014 Where's your compass? Not fully geared until compass, can opener, and canteen.I don't bother with any of those anymore. Water is easily found, axe opens cans. I wander too much for a compass. :D
kihz 83 Posted March 26, 2014 You're also not fully geared until you have "Energized", "Healthy", and "Hyrdrated" status. Thens you retty for a fight. Again, I'm in Electro on a full pop. I don't think eating is my best choice right now. Maybe I'll jump in a low pop and eat up real quick like a flaming homosexual.

BadAsh (DayZ) 1513 Posted March 26, 2014 Soda gives you hunger too, canteens don't. Calories bro. But if you eat every can of food you find you won't need those calories, plus it will give you around 12 slots extra in your backpack from not having to haul a minor convenient store around. As it seems you are very fond of filling up your backpack with ammo, it makes no sense that you don't carry all that food much more efficiently in your stomach instead. Also on full health you can take more damage before going unconscious or dying.

cels 43 Posted March 26, 2014 (edited) Having a can opener and a axe... And when hunting comes out you can add matches to the list. Unless I can start a fire by rubbing two sticks together that I cut down with my axe Edited March 26, 2014 by cels
Monkfish (DayZ) 339 Posted March 26, 2014 (edited) Holy hell mate, eat that food!Yeah, this. Carrying food whilst you have a Hungry status makes zero sense and you should eat/drink everything you have. Given the amount of energy you can store, you should be eating food as you find it and only hoarding it if you're already stuffed from a previous find, intend to keep it for someone else or want to eat in a more secure location. Anyway, back on topic. What I consider "fully geared" is typically a full set of pristine clothing (shoes, cargo pants, shirt/top with many pockets), a vest if I've found one, at least two canteens, at least one weapon with ammo, although two is preferable, and a backpack of some description (usually Taloon, but I'm easy). Basically I consider myself geared when I have the basic equipment to protect myself from people, zombies and the elements, although I'm happy enough ambling about and replacing knackered/shit stuff when I find something better. EDIT: Also, soda cans give you hunger? Pretty sure that's bollocks. Hunger messages are triggered when your energy level gets low, and Soda gives a bit to hydration and a bit to energy (unless this was changed in recent builds). I've certainly had hunger messages briefly disappear after drinking soda. Edited March 26, 2014 by Monkfish
Mullraugh 1151 Posted March 26, 2014 A bit of ammo, a rifle, and a stylish non-military set of clothes.
problembarn420 3 Posted March 26, 2014 "Fully geared" to me feels like that point when I actually start caring if my char dies or not. The moment I start beeing more careful is when I have; full cloth-set with assault vest (anything more than damaged), a primary with a scope, if mosing etc I want a secondary on the side. Food and openers are usely easy enough to find and I'm not too bothered with that, however, if I got a improved improvised backpack I DON'T WANT TO LOSE IT. Disclaimer; I like to PvP when I have gathered some gear. Looking for action often times get me killed, so "fully" geared comes quite soon for me.. Atleast the feeling of beeing geared.
