tmbt 34 Posted March 27, 2014 I played this game for about 170 hours now and I can understand how you feel but you have to move on the next step. Groups of bandits should be common in a post apocalyptic world. If you play alone and you're spotted anyway it means you're playing bad (no offense). The only way to survive alone is to be like a ghost. If a group of people spot you and you're not able to vanish then you're most probably dead. Because even if they don't kill they will try to force feed you something or steal your gear or handcuff you and leave you there. And all these things are ok with me. I think are a huge part of the game. If you don't want to meet anyone just stay north away from cities who have a military base or weapons spawn points.Loot what you need to survive and go back to the woods. I played in that way for around 40 hours at the begininning. It was funny but then it became boring. This game is better than Battlefield because it adds the survival aspects to a PvP enviroment. It's not ONLY about PvP because you need to eat and drink and sneak around zombies BUT it's not ONLY about survival because there are weapons and people will use these weapons to kill zombies AND other people. You've to deal with it and beat your frustration. Use your frustration to improve your survival tactics !
Rauchsauger 94 Posted March 27, 2014 [...]Every single death of mine was by groups who play this more as Arma2 than a zombie survival game. Instant kos, body shots, they don't care about loot. Am I the best DayZ player? Absolutely not. I've had my share of combat encounters, and I've died plenty. But never to a single person who was taking me on alone.[...] Given how many times I simply outran a "gangbang" (ya maybe I took some hits but I managed to get away more often than not) I think your are not very good (yet) at the game.I really do not believe a word about you never been taken down by a single player ^_^Your rant about external voice is ... you will not change that EVER and you know it - you are just playing the "blame game" because obviously without the external voice applications you would have never been killed. Traveler (DayZ) 27 Posted March 27, 2014 Literally what I don't get, ever, are the amount of assholes who vigorously defend their KoS-playstyle as the norm. There are many players who haven't played the game for so long that they consider the only thing worth doing to be hunting other players...doesn't matter if they are armed or not.But back to OP's complaint: the groups are always a menace for a single player. With or withoput ingame voice does not make much of a difference, as man players are inept at communicating anyways. That might also be the reason why some loners here claim to have shot a whole squad...happened to me too. One of the squad shoots the other - friendly fire - then the others panick and run around - one more gets shot...etc. Teamplay takes practice. Literally every single person I have played with so far has been like OP: Gearing up in a way they would describe as careful - approaches I usually only would take with a freshspawned character - and getting killed at random later on.The annoying thing is then: Other players being invisible/wallhacking/cheating.There is much to condemn here, this way and that, about the game itself, about the people who play it. But the guys defending "KoS" as the only legit way to play are a pest.
infiltrator 275 Posted March 27, 2014 There's PLENTY of solo players out there (I'm one of them, at least half of my play time) - the thing is, high risk areas tend to attract groups more, and if you are solo in a high risk area, well, you're asking for it. When it comes to not being able to deal with them - that's absolutely untrue. IF, and IF you have the element of surprise, you can deal with 2 people at least, sometimes 3 - I have, multiple times, even on airfields. If you shoot first and kill one guy - it's either 1v1 or 1v2 - definitely managable. If you get in an easily defensible position, you can pretty much go 1v5 as long as you have an M4 - there's no grenades, flashbangs, gas grenades to flush you out. Capo 323 Posted March 27, 2014 (edited) Well it sounds to me like you're making gearing up a grind. You should try playing on full servers and loot inland. That way, there's always a possibility of someone being nearby, but you can still find loot. Of course you're gonna get frustrated when you make gearing up a tedious "hold down W" fest then run around fully geared looking for people to play with. A fully geared player is a pinata to everyone else. You can find police stations all over the map now, so really there's no reason to play on empty servers (of course maybe some peoples computers can't handle it). Gun spawns are not an issue, and lone wolf is meant to be freaky as hell, it's Dayz, and stress is your friend, embrace it. Playing with a higher risk of player contact also gives you more opportunity to use your gear as you find it aswell. Edited March 27, 2014 by Capo
bfisher 561 Posted March 27, 2014 Watch it. Be nice around here. Sorry. I'm just legitimately confused and frustrated about people who complain about getting killed by other players.
Etherimp 1323 Posted March 27, 2014 Sorry. I'm just legitimately confused and frustrated about people who complain about getting killed by other players. I'm not a murderer or bandit, and I completely agree. I tend to play a little more friendly.. was a hero in the mod. I try to hunt down bandits and help new players... that said, killing is a part of the game and without it the game would be fucking boring.
