Bre3ze 13 Posted March 23, 2014 Is it just me? or has the new patch just made the game laggy as hell. The zombies are now a threat yay! they are a thresh because I can't even turn my head without dropped to 15 fps in cities Q_QBefore patch 30 fps in cities without issue, is it because of the new zombie respawn thing? crimsonbzd 247 Posted March 23, 2014 An SSD won't improve your fps <_< No it will not. However if you run DayZ on a SSD, framerate drops hardly cause screen stutter, if at all. I go from 90 fps all the way down to 20 sprinting into Cherno but it's just a number on the screen at this point, the picture on my screen is smooth and uninterrupted. I can't remember if it was said directly from Rocket, but it was mentioned that an SSD is kind of a must for DayZ just because of how many things it needs to load which in turn, as you said, reduces stuttering which, yes, can lead to a quick loss in fps before it bounces back up again. SaveMeJebus 164 Posted March 23, 2014 soooo how does an ssd NOT improve your fps then? Seen you say that many times and then this time you flat out contradict yourself straight out :P

Seen you say that many times and then this time you flat out contradict yourself straight out :PBecause it doesn't. It will prevent the stutters of the game constantly trying to load information
pacific_coast 632 Posted March 23, 2014 ssd helps general fps by reducing load times between the cpu and gpu it is not a cure all the latest patch seems more stable, i will test more i would estimate a small increase in fps, maybe 1-2 frames since the patch
hombrecz 832 Posted March 23, 2014 For me, the game feels tad smoother now (on patched stable that is, experimental was worse). Now if Devs could only deliver the optimalisations in towns, something to do with dreaded "proxies".If I could get 40 FPS in Cherno / Elektro / Berezino, I would be happy camper. Konna 149 Posted March 23, 2014 I actually had a nice FPS increase from the last time i played.Could also be the driver update on my NVidia card. Not entirely sure.

Konna 149 Posted March 23, 2014 Oh and guys, if you haven't noticed, the patch reset the startup parameters of off Steam.
Nails 150 Posted March 23, 2014 I thought the people swearing that the SSD made the game work better were full of it. I went ahead and tried it and have to say they are completely right. Frames are still the same, but the game feels different. I don't notice the frame dips as much when going into or near cities.

kichilron 8550 Posted March 23, 2014 (edited) On any BIS-game you will see a vast improvement on performance when running it off an SSD. It might not be as noticeable on other games, but you can't compare that to the ARMA-series or DayZ. Especially on ARMA and DayZ your FPS will skyrocket and you will notice overall more stability when running it on an SSD. SFRGaming 718 Posted March 23, 2014 An SSD won't improve your fps <_<Not directly, but for games made by Bohemia Interactive benefit GREATLY from an SSD. An SSD will allow you to load files (textures, models, etc...) faster, thus less time renderring it in-game.
kakysas666 191 Posted March 23, 2014 Well ssd surely makes dayz launch faster but I am not sure about FPS. But still if you have a gaming computer and don't have an ssd by 2014 you are a moron (no offense).

khrononkey 38 Posted March 23, 2014 I have a TERRIBLE computer, and this patch has been wonderful for me. The aids ridden gerbal that runs my computer gets about 5-10 more fps in cities now. maybe 3-7.. it has herpies too.
Grimey Rick 3417 Posted March 23, 2014 As mentioned multiple times above an SSD definitely improves your FPS on Bohemia games. And saying "No offense" doesn't make it less offensive. It's obviously not a global issue, as swapping DayZ to my RAID 0 SSD array did not increase my frames at all. I had initially installed it on a RAID 0 array of two 1TB/7,200RPM/64MB cache hard drives; the only thing it affected was load times. As a matter of fact, the next time I format I'm going to put DayZ back on the HDD array.
