Why are people calling zombies zeds?

Recommended Posts

That's...not really a good explanation.

its from the name of the mod. Dayz. From the letter Z specificly.

Think it should be Zobz, then, zebz. why the 'e'?

Depending on how you pronounce it really. For me it makes perfect sense since in my alphabet Z is something like "zeta" -> "zed". Zombie, walker and whatever is much clumsier word for quick use.

Rocket's a kiwi, or aussie i think. We say it Zed.

But I believe they're called zeds for short, 'z'ombie - zed. Wont be long until its just z ie: z over there

It's from a movie called Shaun of the Dead and yes it's because of the letter Z being called/named Zed in certain countries.

Probably not the first time in history it was used but it was a memorable part of the film for people and why it became so popular.

It's so we can say "Zed's dead, baby. Zed's dead."

Wierdly, in the UK we say 'Zed' for 'Z', so it makes sense to me. But I call the mod 'DayZee'. Figure that one out.

Yes?

Ed: Any zombies out there?

Shaun: Don't say that!

Ed: What?

Shaun: That!

Ed: What?

Shaun: The zed-word. Don't say it!

Ed: Why not?

Shaun: Because it's ridiculous!

Ed: All right... are there any out there, though?

looking out of the letter-box, he sees an empty street

Shaun: I can't see any. Maybe it's not as bad as all that.

[he turns his head and sees a pack of zombies]

Shaun: Oh, no, there they are.

Zee is the lowercase pronunciation of the letter z, Zed is the upper case pronunciation.

The mod is called DayZ, the Z is upper case, that could be a nice in house explanation.(I just call it Days)

Obviously the OP has never seen Shaun of the Dead.

Srsly tho, Brits say it Zed, and Zed it shall be.

In England we pronounce it as Zed, so it's basically saying "there's a z over there" or "horde of z's" even though I do actually just call them zombies I can understand why people say it

+ shaun of the dead "The Z word don't say it"
