OP Zombies

Alright, I understand this is most likely a thing. But I just wanna put in my two-cents!

Zombies are very good now. They spawn in larger numbers, and after the whole no clip issue us handled they'll be golden.

What I don't like is exploding into a fountain of blood every time one hits you.

I mean, sure, you might bleed. But at this point, the bleeding is too over powered. It doesn't make zombies a threat... It makes them annoying.

TL;DR: My suggestion is to increase the damage zombies do, but reduce the chances of one making you bleed out every time you can't find a rag.

 

What do you think?

Agreed, it just punishes the newly spawned players, as they lack the bandages and due to server lag I have died 2 times to zombies because I couldn't even bandage myself.

I love it. Yesterday I had some fun testing out their damage, path, and respawn rate. Went to Svetlojarsk, and spent 60 5.56 rounds aggroing* all the zombies I could. Had a blast!! B)

 

P.S.: They ruined my Anti-stab vest, and damaged my raincoat, but I couldn't care less since I had fun!

Yeah, damage would be great if it was increased.

 

For some reason I want them to be able to grab you, and you have to do the Q-E to get loose (Shouldn't take more than a 3-4 clicks) maybe this is just me though. ^^

Hadn't given it much though previously... But I really like the "zombie grabbing" Q/E to struggle free idea.

Respawn rates and the such aren't the problem. The proble mare that you bleed EVERY DAMN TIME one of those rotting piles of shit pokes you in the face.

But they are extremely fun at the same time :3

What kind of medic doesn't carry a crap ton of bandages!? 

 

Yeah I'm sure this is placeholder mechanics, possibly even unintended, but its still fairly easy to simply not let them hit you. Even three or four at a time is manageable with a fireaxe without getting hit.

I carry about a dozen rags at the moment... I used all of 'em. XD

Hecks yeah, I'd be all-for zombies getting a damage increase.  Bleeding chances should be reduced, like y'uns said, and I'd love to see some grapples-  not just from zombies, but also from players. Maybe some silent takedowns for when you creep up on a zombie that hasn't detected you yet, like a quick jerk of the neck.

Right now I'm carrying four medpacks and one is filled with bandages, two with blood and saline.

So if you're in dire straits give me a shout I'm more than willing to blast my way through the horde with my black fireaxe and my M4 to assist you!

I beg to differ. They respawn 2 seconds after you kill them 20 yards away from you. If you are indoors you can't melee them because you always hit the ceiling like an uncoordinated mong. Forcing you to either avoid indoors or shoot, and when you kill one it spawns, kill the next, the first one will respawn and agro straight away. A delay on the spawning would be great.

The only issue I could see is that they respawn on you. If they just respawned in towns after a set time, that'd be great.

I don't care how powerful the zombies are I just wish the were more fun to kill. After the devs finally figure out how the want zombies to spawn and get it so thousands can roam the map without putting stress on the desync the need to make these zombies a little more believable. They really need to work on the animations of these zombies to make them a bit more dynamic. Currently if a zombie Agros on u it runs in the some generic slow zombie fast walk. Gimme a zombie that crawls or hobbles or runs there should be some variety in the zombies. Also I find it against all zombie lore that u can shoot these zombies in the belly once with a pistol and they die flat on their face this just makes the whole thing so unbelievable. Make it so if I miss there head with a double barrel and hit the shoulder it should blow their arm off or something. It would make zombies more of a challenge rather than a nuisance. Last there needs to be more varied attacks on zombies using melee weapons. Like if you've ever play chivalry medieval warfare you know there's and over head type attack, a slashing attack , and a poking attack. This would be amazing for indoor combat with zombies. Instead of always doing the same over head log chopping motion u do with the fire axe that hits the ceiling maybe u do a slash or a poke to shove me out of the way. Also I think the one handed melee needs improvement. It would be awesome if while wielding a screw driver u could grab the zombie/player and stab them in the head. In the end this game really needs to spice up zombie combat.

These aren't "Dead" zombies. They are infected, living, breathing, delirious cannibal people. You can shoot them anywhere and kill them just the same.

Hmm, well part of my test was voluntarily being hit by them to test it, and on 30 hits (I know I'm insane...  B) ) I bled 7 times. Of course, it was totally random, as 3 times in a row I had to bandage after a hit, and for 8 after that I didn't have too. I couldn't see any difference on the place they hit as it seems they only damaged chest items I had.

These aren't "Dead" zombies. They are infected, living, breathing, delirious cannibal people. You can shoot them anywhere and kill them just the same.

That's not the point the point is is that zombies in this game are boring and need to be more of a challenge. If the only thing u got out of my suggestion was that u r stupid.

First of all, no flaming is necessary.

Second of all, he's right, the in-game zombies are not undead but infected. While the devs could change the zombie canon, it would require them to completely re-do zombies (again) and set up all of the new animations, scripts, modeling as well as the instanced limb destruction. That may be cool, but it would require a huge amount of effort that I don't see any reason for spending the time on. Also, I don't think it would be more interesting if you had to hit them in the head, firing two simultaneous buckshot rounds into someone's shoulder would probably kill them from the sheer force of the gun.

 

 

Not to mention that the idea that undead zombies can survive without using their major organs is beyond me. Pretty much every part of your body is crucial to performing basic actions and movement, so there's no good reason why undead ones suddenly only need their brain and minor lung functions to completely work.

Ur argument is faulty. How can u even compare the anatomy of a zombie to that of a human. When if a normal human had a diet consisting of strictly human flesh it would die in a matter of days.

Duff, everything you suggested would be very entertaining in a single player game about dispatching the undead. However, everything you suggested would also require a TREMENDOUS amount of coding to implement over top of the existing system. The devs have said they will be making changes to the zombies as the alpha progresses and server stability becomes less of an issue so have patience if you think the zombies seem simple at the moment. Furthermore, and this may be just the way I see things, but if you're looking at this game as a zombie-shooter then you're mistaken. The zombies are simply part of the background, a lingering explanation for the environment. The true meaning of this game is scavenging and decision-making based on personal morality. Its about surviving by yourself, and moral decisions while around others. I'll take deep gameplay mechanics like those over L337 screwdriver-kill cut-scenes any day.

i've played the game. so i know that the draw to it it the pvp and survival aspects but its not hard to survive in a world where the zombies die in one shot and you only need a bag of rice to eat and your good for a week.

You keep missing the part where everyone tells you that the Devs have said they plan on changing the zombies. At this stage of the game they're simple and killing them in one shot isn't much of an issue because you'll be attacked by four or five AT MOST in a town. Once the servers can handle the load their numbers will be increased and they will become more of a threat. The game is in alpha, just be patient.

all im trying to say is i disagree with the topic of this thread which is that zombies are op which in my opinion is ridiculous considering u can kill them in one shot.

True, but imagine if the chance to bleed on hit remains the same after the zombies numbers are raised. If you have a mob of a dozen zombie chasing after you, each with a 33% chance to make you bleed on hit then the situation becomes a tad more serious. Especially if you're a fresh spawn on the beach or only have a melee weapon. But I agree with you in the current setting, I suppose.
