"known issue" Melee: Can't swing with weapon in lowered stance

Recommended Posts

Far as I'm concerned this shouldn't be an issue... You have to ready a weapon to fire with it right? The same should apply to melee weapons. This will allow people to tell who's being hostile and who isn't. I'm perfectly fine with people being forced to "ready" a melee weapon. Weeds out the douchebags really quick.

It's not an issue, it is to highlight player intention.

I've no idea why you posted this in the Suggestion Forum, in fact I've no idea why you made a Topic at all, you could have posted in any of the update Topics.

Moved but not merged...

The reason I posted it is because I saw this in the steam changelog. It's listed as "known issue" so... I don't care if it never gets fixed. lol I want to be able to see who's trying to kill me in melee.

Known Issues:
Physics: Item throwing physics is currently disabled
Melee: Cannot conduct melee attack from "lowered" melee stance (press space to chance stance to "raised")

IMO you should perform a baseball-bat style 'swing' with melee weapons in the low position, and a vertical axe-style 'chop' from the raised position. Area of effect vs. precision strike.

It would be nice if we could use the 'T' key (used to toggle between auto and select-fire with the M4 and twin barrel with the shotgun) to select what kind of attack you want to use. Toggle between the vertical, sweeping horizontal, or some sort of shoving animation that gets zombies off of you when they're too close (Or when you spot a little kid with a mosin on the cliffs of Svetlojarsk).

The lowered stance should let you thrust at people, while the higher stance is a swing.

The thrust would do little damage unless you hit the face, but would block or push people away.
