doctorwhy 157 Posted March 17, 2014 I really hope that doors eventually make a sound when opened. I think that alone could add a dynamic to searching and leaving doors open or closed. If I knew the doors would make a sound and I was playing without my partner in crime with me I'd be closing doors to listen if I am being snuck up on. Thoughts?

Elle 562 Posted March 17, 2014 would be nice. I always close the door behind me anyway so I can peek to see that its still closed, the sound of it opening again would certainly get my attention.

I freak myself out with a mis-aimed axe swing sometimes, never thought of doing it to others....

Elle 562 Posted March 17, 2014 You do know doors don't make a sound if you are careful, yes?so then you add the options "open door", "carefully open door", "beat the effin door down" - having had a good look over most of the buildings on the map the only doors - and mean the only ones - that have any inclination of being silent openers are the ones in military areas - the rest of the place looks like it hasn't seen a drop of oil since before the 20th century. having said all that, maybe the devs could add a little oil can you carry in your pants just for the purpose of trying to open those doors silently.. oh and carefully. nl 986 Posted April 24, 2014 Bumping this thread because today I thought the same thing. Yes doors should make noise, only logical, after a few years without maintenance hinges and locks would squeak en wooden doors could be stuck in the frame and so on. But: maybe there could be an option to open a door very careful and slow to reduce the noise it makes but still make some noise that could be heard by someone in the building but less in the surroundings.
Katana67 2907 Posted April 24, 2014 (edited) I still think they need to give us an incremental animation for opening doors, rather than having our characters standing there like a mannequin while the door magically opens before your avatar. AshleyP 121 Posted April 24, 2014 (edited) Looking at that screenshot, two more ideas spring to mind: allow the player to lock the door (perhaps spawn a "skeleton key", for the same of gameplay, instead of having one individual key per house), and give the shotgun breaching rounds so that you can blast the door open if need be. In reality I suspect that most houses in a zombie apocalypse would have the doors open by default, or even ripped off their hinges - the zombies would have smashed their way in long before you got there. The houses with closed, locked doors would be the risky ones, because they would be more likely to have people inside them. Closed, locked doors with condensation on the windows. MagneticToast 102 Posted April 24, 2014 Definitely should be in but at this point I don't know if I am going to get my hopes up.
